What are some movies that are hated by other people you will defend no matter what?

Thomas Jane's Punisher. I will defend that movie until my death. Jane was EASILY the best Punisher and actually respected the character.

Batman & Robin. Always always always. It feels like a modernized version of the 60's TV show. So much fun.

George Lucas's edits to the original Star Wars trilogy.
It's his story, he can tell it how he wants. I wouldn't mind having copies of the theatrical cut on DVD/Blu-ray, but I'm perfectly fine with the '97 Special Edition edits, the Vader "NOOO~!" in ROTJ, Greedo shooting first, whatever.
It's really not that big a deal.

While I think some of the edits were too heavy-handed, if I were in the position to bring the special effects of the OT up to modern standards, I would every single time.

If the original cuts were on DVD you wouldn't see that much fuss about the edits. I never had a problem with the edits

Zodiac, no Oscar nominations/wins for Best Movie, Best Actor for Jake Gyllenhaal, Best Supporting for RDJ or Mark Rufallo, Best Cinematography all of which I think it deserved. And only just surpassed it's budget of 65 million (by an extra 20) at the box office.
Some say it is too long and doesn't have enough action, but that's the whole point. It's a case study focused specifically on real life events, furthermore from a movie/drama standpoint it builds up tension with it's incredible story telling, acting and pace.

The Number 23, Mr. Brooks, and Jingle All The Way. The first two are underrated thrillers, particularly Mr. Brooks. Jingle All The Way is a great Christmas flick.

I optimistically don't think people consider Return of the Jedi a "bad" movie, but I always defend it...especially from the Ewok haters.
I likewise love and will stand up for Jingle All The Way (Does Jake Lloyd hate this one too?) and Masters of the Universe.
Also have to agree with the Thomas Jane Punisher movie. It's one of my favorite action movies.
I also like defending Willow (I swear people only bad mouth this one because of Mystery Science Theater 3000), and Conan The Destroyer.

Spider Man 3 was good. The Black Costume IS Venom, and both it and Brock had plenty of scenes throughout the movie. They just didn't unify until near the end. Yeah it would have been nice if Raimi worked with the screenwriter to give Venom more time in the plot instead of throwing a hissy fit, but the time Venom got in his battle was awesome. Also, Sandman was excellent. The only problem I agree with was that silly musical scene with Peter under the costume's influence. At least the critics liked it, even Angry Video Game Nerd and Nostalgia Critic liked it. George Lucas's edits to the original Star Wars trilogy. It's his story, he can tell it how he wants. I wouldn't mid having copies of the theatrical cut on DVD/Blu-ray, but I'm perfectly fine with the '97 Special Edition edits, the Vader "NOOO~!" in ROTJ, Greedo shooting first, whatever. It's really not that big a deal. I understand some of the criticism withe prequels, but most of the complaints about the special editions to me are hogwashed bullcrap. I can't stand the people who whine "Han shot first". Whether he shot first or ducked a laser bullet at close range, he still looked awesome so what's the problem?!

Watchmen. I loved the movie. Felt it was probably the closest we'll ever get to a good adaptation of the novel.

- The Phantom Menace: I don't think it matches up to any of the first three SW flicks, but I always enjoy watching it when it comes on.
- Velvet Goldmine: The story's all over the place and too many characters just come and go, but the art direction and music kick too much ass. Plus Rhys Meyers has a nice singing voice.
- Man Of Steel: Are there some things I would have done differently? Certainly, I would have made John Kent less of an idiot and let Superman rescue some more citizens, but other than that it more or less got the character and his themes right.
- Space Jam: It's as great as any Michael Jordan vanity project can possibly be, and beyond.
- William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet: One word- visceral.

Revenge of the Sith is probably the best Star Wars movie besides Empire Strikes Back.
Watchmen is vastly superior to the Graphic Novel.

It brought a nice sense of closure and I liked Lucas' explanation that his force ghost was a representation of the good man he was before his fall to the Dark Side.
