@ Street Spartan – Here were the gauntlets I passed.
Vote for two different people during a day phase, neither can be lynched. (Day One)
Quote a player in three consecutive posts you make, and make three consecutive posts (Day Two)
Accumulate at least two lynch Votes against yourself over the course of the game. (Day Three this went off)
There are two that I haven’t achieved. Gauntlets could be achieved in any order. Unlocking an ability was dependent upon completing any of the five gauntlets. As it stands, I will get two more night actions with the role. After Night 5, I run out of Night Actions. One of the remaining gauntlets is to be the Hammer Vote on a lynch. Ahem, look back at Day 2. The Wolf situation? I was wanting to get that one out of the way early. That’s why I was hanging in there until the end. The deadline was approaching, so my hand was forced and I had to rely on the other gauntlet I had already fulfilled.
I figured the quotes and posts-in-a-row requirement was by far the easiest and could easily be fulfilled in late game, but no way could I be the hammer vote on Day Three after having attempted it the day before.
The fifth gauntlet (one of two I haven’t completed) is to make a fake roleclaim. Heh, wasn’t going to happen on Day 1, 2, or 3, and this one was frustrating because it goes against my philosophy of roleclaiming to begin with.
So, you see, it’s not as stacked as you all were making it—a lot of high risk, high reward situations. And I told you I loved the concept of having to make a game within a game out of it. Props to Anonymous GM for giving me the role. Seemed to be tailor-made for me since I always try to add an element of fun to the game in whatever role I’m given anyway. Plus, it’s challenging as eff to keep heatzorz off of yourself while trying to meet these requirements (well, four out of the five anyway). But yeah, I’m counting it a personal victory on how I got through the gauntlets on the first three nights and got to contribute each time. I feel like I’ve pieced it together, and in the “bookmark this post” post, I feel like we can seal the deal at this stage for Town victory.
I mean, at this stage (Day Four—Gauntlet Four) I can mockingly say, “Guys, I gotta tell you—I’m the Tracker Assistant.” And boom goes the dynamite. Now I’m locked and loaded for a new action tonight.
The only one left would be to be the Hammer vote on a lynch in Day Five to get my fifth and final action.
And since, we’re going full disclosure here. Here is more to consider.
Watching carefully. I'm going to be honest: BRB's gameplay has ended up helping me. I will say this much on a Monday, three days before the lynch: I am definitely going to launch a vote this day phase.
Also, not just brb, but you folks in general have helped me work on reads in the early going moreso than a normal day one. Thanks for going hard on this first day, so important. Also, in the end, if scum have carefully mingled in with the "safe" posters in a wild day one like this, it makes me kinda mark after all is said and done if they flew right past me and held their own.
I am going to wait for my leading vote candidate to chime in a time or two more and then I'm going to go for it tomorrow whether they make an appearance or not. One of the key reasons for announcing this is also to prompt the team that it is really difficult to reach a majority in the early phases of the game; therefore, waiting until too close to the last day is almost a guaranteed no lynch. I've never hidden the fact that I am totally against any no lynch days. I also know some people fear drawing attention to themselves by going all out with the first vote AND--more than that--people really tend to get uneasy in following suit with another player because scum don't want to be seen bandwagoning and town is usually afraid of later being outed as aligning with a faulty vote if the lynch goes sour. I'm tell you up front: I am voting tomorrow, and I'll have a reason behind it albeit vague speculation for so early in the game.
Orange. That's what it added up to on Day One. Who wasn't going hard? Who was popping in and out? I justified my rationale on him and I wasn't the only one. I can quote those rational suspicions on the part of others as well if I need to. It was only after Orange's seemingly open and apologetic "real life" reason that I backed off on Day One. In short, I was on to him, and then I ended up believing him. What resulted by Day Three is a fly-by-night player who deserved to go. I do not second-guess my judgment call to get rid of an active-inactive at that stage. I bought Orange's apology on Day One, but hanging around until Day Three (over the course of multiple "real time" weeks) was no help. I could see a scummy player doing that. I just couldn’t shake the guy from my suspicious activity list. It's been done before. Turns out, Orange just happened to fall into the category that I mentioned on Day One: "sign-up-and-mess-around-during-a-game-that-takes-multiple-weeks-to-play-and-therefore-wastes-the-rest-of-the-players'-times." (Paraphrased from a response to BRB on Day One.) The wrong read on Orange as scum. Flat out. The right read on a sign-up and forget about it type of attitude that is commonplace around this Forum. Yeah, inactives.
All the people that have been stirring the pot are trying. I don't want to lynch someone trying. I want to lynch someone not trying.
VOTE: Orange
He's playing his hand too close to his chest. I know and fully realize that it's just day one and that it's hard to be bold and resolute about decisions against anyone. I'm not saying I'm right. I'm just saying that I see a lot of trying going on from others, and he's been an active inactive. Posting to be seen but no definitive stance. He's playing yet not playing. That's my reasoning. I don't want a day one no lynch. And deadline is going to beat us if something isn't done. If nothing else, this at least stirs the pot. I vote Orange.
Yeah, because scum plays it like I just did there. /sarcasm
Anyway, by Day 3, no change in Orange and gameplay. I’m not remorseful in the “I completely got rid of one of our teammates!” sort of way. I’m mad because I bought into my suspicions moreso on Day Three, which again was fueled by so much frustration. Wrong call. As for Orange, wrong decision: signing up and not playing.
This is simply for Orange, but I promised him I'd get on the laptop.
Alright, just read through all the pages and, as per usual for day one, there's not a ton to go off.
BRB's list is... odd, as I really don't get why the players are broken up like they are. To be honest, as Mason said, I don't get the need for lists at all, really. These games change so much that it seems like a waste of time to group the players together and say "this guy's played before and he's okay but this guy's new and could make mistakes" etc. etc.
To answer Produce's question on the top of the page (Page 15 in case it changes by the time I post this), I don't know how you determine who should be lynched in day one. There's nothing to go off of, so it's a shot in the dark whether you're lynching an inactive or the guy that's posted the most. There's really no winning either way, and with as easy as things get misunderstood in Mafia games you can only hope for the best on day one.
Not trying to convince the world you're Dahmer. It's just Day One and I have to throw a logical guess out there. That's my most logical guess at the time of my initial vote. Deadline approaching and I wanted a lynch. No votes were really being cast. I don't like for the deadline to get us. Lynches are information. And we have some information floating out there now. Fairly productive Day One, it would seem.
----------------------------
Day 2 Open Suspicions (note the second quote where I had to backtrack because of an error in who I thought was who) …
Hawk, Produceman, Casey Jones are candidates for me right now in terms of active players. I would gladly vote for any of the three since they would provide the most information at this time. That's just the way I play. I want the maximum amount of info we can get with a lynch. Any of those three want to voice an opinion on whether or not they'd be willing to sacrifice themselves for the betterment of the Town? I want to see what each has to say about where they stand in terms of being in the thick of a lot of discussions. Do any of you think your lynch would actually help us?
I think I said Hawk up above. WOLF is the name I meant to throw in there. Wolf Haley and Hawk Jefferson are two names on the boards I get confused. Everyone changes their freaking names so much on the boards. Wolf Haley, it has hit me, is the former Wolf Hurricane. I really have been reading his posts in the mindset of what Hawk Jefferson, another former Mafia player, might type. Using my phone and having to go back and forth between than a broken laptop has really jacked with me. My points are all still valid. I just always think of people by a particular name. (Casey Jones is Latino Meat, for instance. I think. I've been assuming Casey Jones is the former Latino Meat. I dunno now. Majin Brad is just Brad or Big Bad Brad. Cageking is just Cageking, no matter what 50-word additional descriptor he puts on there) Hope that makes sense. Wolf is the former Wolf Hurricane, and that's just what I think of him as. Wolf Haley, for some reason, made me associate him with Hawk Jefferson. So there, that explains the stupidity of the previous post(s). I've just been ignoring people saying "Wolf" and substituting the name "Hawk" in my head.
And with that, you will note that “Hawk” (incorrectly noted) was there all along even in the Day One suspicions. Hawk = Wolf. And with that said, let’s move on to this observation…
------------------------------------------
One other thing to consider. Sparkles. Would any of you—knowing how I am—think I would allow a teammate to make such “doof” moves. After the Day One threat to leave, I would’ve been all over that case. The Mafia usually have a conversation thread outside of the main thread. Doesn’t anybody think there is a major hole in the “Peg as scum” theory in that I allowed that to happen? I’m going to tell you: if I didn’t interject more strategy and hands-on prevention to that whole Sparkles situation, I’d probably quit for good. You all, the fact that it was allowed to happen added to my theory that a not-so-active player (there is where Orange and Daime comes back in) would’ve allowed that to happen. OK, it’s metagaming. I alluded to it before. But it’s where I was at in my logic. How could teammates allow it to happen? Wolf wasn’t exactly filling the board with posts. Orange was missing in action in large spurts. It’s hard to do damage control (i.e., Sparkles’ misunderstandings about the game at large) if one isn’t active. Anyway, my point is, it takes a pretty low opinion of me as a player to think I would’ve let that whole situation explode. I honestly didn’t think the guy was Mafia up until I got beaten over the head with it. I could never imagine someone making such a wrong move in a game of deception.
Twice I was in the midst of a charge against Mafia.
And remember, the clencher: I am the one who night-killed Brad. This is the strongest evidence you have as Town. No one can refute that. Not one person will do it. Look back. Brad was night-killed. Serial Killer, as I have guessed, was missing in action, possibly because of some night-action, whether it be Mafia or Town. If I were guessing, I would say Mafia night-targeted the Serial Killer on that first night and stifled him. We can surely piece it together and figure it out with all the power roles still on the table.
I understand the way the cards have stacked up. And that’s why I’m willing to take one for the team here. However, I would actually like to, you know, be alive to try to solidify this Town victory with yet another Power role at play during the next night phase.
Since Artificial Human is pretty much cornered, my advice—if you choose to forego my lynch—is go ahead and get the Godfather (Hawk) with the vote, which is what it takes to seal the deal on getting rid of him. Once he flips, Tyger can easily confirm AHuman and in the meantime, Tracker Spartan and me can put together a plan to uncover the final scum member: Serial Killer.
If not, I recommend Tyger getting Human with the investigation to confirm, and that would leave Tyger and Spartan as the two “investigative” type roles to uncover Serial Killer. I *think* the numbers work in our favor either way. Like I said, I’d rather be around to up the probability, but if you all stick to the plan, it could still work out, I guess. I get antsy at the idea of teammates messing it up in the end-game, as has happened in nearly every game I’ve played. I’ve never been Mafia, and I never want to be Mafia. Every time the role PMs come out I cross my finger that I’m not scum. I love the thrill of the hunt, and it feels good to have another “moral victory.” Lost plenty of times because the group failed to follow through after my death. I’m biting my nails at this possibility yet again. It’s absolutely crushing when this happens. The BRB, Orange, Produceman, and Pegasus ending to the last game I was in was so frustrating! I do NOT want it to go down that same road again.
Of course, Mafia is still going to get a night kill and Serial Killer still gets a kill each night, so I’d rather keep as many Town power roles around to seal the deal as possible.

I have PMed Anonymous GM to see if I can get an explanation on the ritt Weak Doctor kill. This could be the moment she was referring to when she said “interesting” goings-on during the night actions. One character was tracked (ritt) who targeted another character (Peg) who chose himself in a Bus Driver exchange (with Artificial Human). I’m trying to find out if ritt “protecting me” would show up as ritt actually Protecting me and the end result of the bus driver exchange would be the “blow up” effect that caused ritt’s demise. I’m not trying to question GM on this one, but I guess, in essence, an explanation would help. Ritt would’ve actually protected Artificial Human, but would the intent of protecting me be what Street Spartan tracked? That’s pretty much word for word what I’m asking GM via PM.
