Can someone help me understand what happened to this show? Did the departure of Art Bell just tank the show altogether?
I finally downloaded the TuneIn Radio app for my phone and thought I'd give C2C a listen. I'd always heard George Noory was awful, but I never expected him to be as bad as what I heard. The episode I listened to was basically political/right-wing radio. Is it like that all of the time now or do they still occasionally discuss the paranormal?

I haven't listened to it much lately, but the one with Stan Johnson last Summer was some real classic Stan Johnson. One of my favorite Stan Johnson bits is where he talks about how popular movies show the plans of the "ruling elite", and then recites movie plots as though they're real (it's right behind when he talks about how every company logo has a 666 in it somewhere, and then says something like "probably nothing, but what if it's not?"). To hear him doing this for a national audience who were probably unfamiliar with his brand of wackiness still tickles me to death.
@13:45: Why all movies reveal future secret plans of the ruling elite. @14:20: The Lone Gunman tv show warned us 9/11 would happen. @14:55: Oil Storm warned us about Katrina. @15:41: Contact was telling us that hadron colliders can open wormholes for time travel. @20:55: "In 1993" the Hellboy movie's nazi occultists were conducting experiments with 3 spinning rings to open wormholes just like the one on Stargate SG-1. "Is that a half hellion, half human". "I didn't write this, this is from wikipedia". @22:58: 1997 Stargate SG-1 is broadcast. Communication via wormhole from interlocking rings, all of this is really about CERN.
Thus, CERN is the reason for volcanoes and earthquakes, and Higgs Boson is a Macguffin. Then suggests CERN's goal is to bring the antichrist to Earth.
I loved reading the reactions of regular C2C listeners exposed to Stan's.... Stanniness for the first time.
"I heard the show too, and even though I'm always willing to believe that there's something sinister going on , I thought the guy was an idiot.
First of all, he asked with complete incredulity several times WHY in the world anyone would want to spend billion of dollars to find an ELUSIVE particle like the Higgs Boson -- so in his mind, this was just some BS they fed the public and there had to be another reason.
Well, let's see, hmmmmm.... why would scientists spend huge amounts to find an "elusive" particle? Because it IS elusive, stupid. That's what science does -- trying to find answers to unanswered questions. And I've seen millions spent on far more ludicrous studies than that.
Then -- and that for me was the idiot's straw that broke the camel's back -- he claimed that CERN was not a real word but a name, short for the pagan god Cernunnos, and that the goal was to bring Cernunnos into this world via a wormhole or whatever. He said something to the effect that it's the European Center for Nuclear Research, so it should be ECNR, but it's not. So why would anyone pick the name CERN? A-ha, it's completely clear -- it must be short for Cernunnos!!!
This is just another example of an ignoramus (just like Jordan Maxwell) who not only doesn't speak a foreign language but can obviously not even conceive of there being a foreign language things might be written in. And he kept babbling about his years-long research; but apparently it was too much work for him to spend ten seconds to open a Wikipedia page and learn that CERN actually stands for Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire... which is French and means, wait for it... European Council for Nuclear Research. Every time I hear spastic claims like his, I want to pull my hair out.
Oh, and to top it off, he kept citing plots from sci-fi movies insisting that these movies somehow were Hollywood's (aka the Illuminatis') sneaky way to let the public in on what's afoot. So he basically narrated the plot of these movies as though they were fact. When the host asked him for proof of his claims, he kept citing more movie plots, as if that were proof of any kind, except in his deluded mind. *shudder*"

Last I heard, Art Bell is back on SiriusXM with his usual deal. No clue how long he'll stick around though.

Opie and Anthony are furious with the app and online streaming seemingly hating them. It dies out and lags horribly. The app is pretty bad.

Here's a pretty good interview where he explains everything as much as he legally can. He also takes some shots at the current state of C2C and George Noory.

Well, I listened again last night (Saturday) and John B. Wells was the host. The guest was a lunatic who thought Katy Perry, Kesha, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, etc. were Satanic and were harbingers of socialism. Wells went on to agree with every word he said.
After looking up some things about Wells, apparently he went on-air and ranted on about how Sandy Hook was a 'false flag' right after it happened. Sigh.
Oh well. Hopefully Art Bell returns to do something soon. Until then, there's always the Phil Hendrie Show.

I started listening a couple years ago, very sporadically, and it was decent. I never had a problem with Noory - people say he takes it a lot less seriously than Bell did, but I've liked his tone and he's been overall good.
I've heard replays of Art Bell's old stuff (woke up in the middle of the night once when they were playing the segment with the guy flying over Area 51 and getting shot down mid-call - freaked me out to no end in that state of mind) and he's good, although sometimes his seriousness was a bit too much. Over the years I've read a bit about his life, and I get the impression from it that he's way to serious about everything.
.......then over the course of this last year - when I've been able to listen a lot more - the format of the show has changed. It's becoming more of a mainstream show (Bell's commented on this and I agree with him almost totally). Noory does a "here's the regular news" bit to start the show, and the guests I've heard are on to talk about things that've nothing to do with anything supernatural or alien or interesting. A couple nights ago I tuned in for the first time in a while, and a guest host who sounded too awake for that time of the day was hyping an interview with the lead singer of Slipknot. I turned it right off and don't plan on listening much anymore.

I listen to the show for the harmless, mundane kooks (the crypto-zoology/ancient aliens/hidden archaeology stuff). When the hosts or guests start veering into Adam Jones territory I quickly lose interest.

It's that conspiracy theory show that frequently blatantly lies to its audience by fabricating "interviews" with people from government agencies and stuff like that who are obviously actors, right? I remember finding a YouTube video a particularly amusing interview with a supposed pilot who gave out "secrets" about Area 51, who was apparently calling from his plane using a cellphone (!!) which was abruptly cut off, only for him to come back on the air a bit later, claim that he had lied earlier, only to immediately claim that he had been telling the truth again.

I subscribe to their podcast, but haven't listened in a long time. The guests have stunk for awhile now. I got my hopes when that awful awful Ian Punnet left. I literally did a dance when I read that new. Being a historian I love listening to all the ancient aliens garbage, but I am worried people actually believe that stuff. I have heard things on the campus I work on that scare me lol.

HUh, I could have sworn that I responded to this thread hours ago...
I started listening t c2 to see about 11 years ago, and back then it was pretty good stuff. And it has slowly degenerated. Yes I agree Noory is just a pandering host who nods his head and cares more about advertising, but Art Bell is quite overrated as well. IN the sense that Noory panders to the guests, art panders to his audience. Neither ask the right questions.
What c2c needs is a guy like Joe Rogan who is gonna call bullshit and demand more evidence. Too often it's just accepted that we take their word for their shit and if we want more, go buy the book, go download the files. well no, you give me more evidence for you batshit crazy theory now.
c2c has degenerated into a 4 hour paid program and Art Bell wouldn't make it any better.
