He'd be in that Jericho, Kane, and Big Show category. A hell of a hand to have, and in the mid-card to main event, but always credible. He'd get IC title runs, tag title runs, and runs with the World Title, but they'd plug him in where needed.
So he'd be in a pretty damn good category.
And after retiring, the WWE would want him to be a trainer.

Double J was great in the wwf, he basically worked well in every role they tried him in. Just in WCW they tried to make him "the" guy in a competitive era. A good heel, a really good wrestler, maybe suited for *A* title run somewhere, but never the guy to carry a company. His run in WCW was similar to Jericho's initial Undisputed title run. Neither really should have been there but they worked their asses off to come across as credible. I always enjoyed those runs just because you could tell they were not phoning it in at all.

Jericho EARNED that run. other than The Rock and Steve and MAYBE Kurt Angle he was the most over guy in the company. in fact, that being his first title run is kind of absurd when you think of it. he should've already had it at least once by that point. for that matter I never had a problem buying Jeff Jarrett as a main eventer in WCW. he fit in with Booker, DDP and Steiner just fine. he was just getting the push in WCW he would've gotten in WWE if the card wasn't already full of other main eventers.

So thinking about this, I was wondering... given they won't have access to/wouldn't use My World, which of his themes would you use for him if he were to return to WWE?
His country song? With My Baby Tonight? NWA Pride? (Of which there is now a real complete CDQ version of on Youtube, which amazes me.) His later WWF theme with Debra? His WCW theme?
I don't know why but I feel that With My Baby Tonight and his WCW theme are the best options here. I think people would pop on the first notes of both. If I had to chose, I'd go with his WCW theme.

Biggest pop might be Country Waltz.

I don't see why Jarrett wouldn't have access to My World, actually. I could very easily see him do something like R-Truth and take it anywhere else with him.
That riff at the Rumble = Me jumping for joy in markdom.

Also, didn't Vince explicitally say he'd never hire Jarrett again, the night after the WCW buyout? I recall he was the only person who was really buried by Vince. Nope he wasn't the only person buried or "fired" that night. While watching Luger and Bagwell he said the Lex Express days are over. Then he mentioned Golddust wanting breast implants confirming a longtime rumor and had a laugh at that. He also played to the crowd if he should hire Hogan Bagwell and Luger for boos and Sting, Goldberg, Steiner, and Booker for cheers. Only Luger never got a contract offer from that group that I know of. I think he was much crueler to Dustin and he's hired him back twice since then.

That riff at the Rumble = Me jumping for joy in markdom. Truth wrote and recorded "What's Up?" himself, and licensed it first to TNA and then WWE for their use. "My World" is a wholly TNA-owned track, so I wouldn't expect it to follow him to any other company not affiliated with TNA.
