If WWE hired you to be in charge of the Divas division, what would you do to make it better?

No more segregating women from the division and pushing them above it to get them over. Female performers will be pushed by having feuds and storylines with each other.

However, I do agree that what they did with AJ last year was a brilliant move. They put her in all those main event angles with Bryan, Punk, Kane, Cena, and Ziggler. They gave her that stint as Raw GM. The plans for AJ were obvious ever since Bryan won the WHC. They were going to make her the most over diva on the roster, and when she returned to her division, she would have a lot of momentum and spread it on the entire division.

Id give it a complete overhaul.
Id bring in several top females from the indies and international talent (Melissa,Kana,Sugey,Von Eerie would be my first choices) Have some of the current crop of divas get to learn their trade rather then get thrown onto tv before they are actually ready (Jojo, Eva Marie) The likes of Rosa kept on as valets only. Proper story lines and lengthier television and ppv matches.
Nothing to extreme, and no need to fire anyone. Just give girls time, proper things to do, bring in some fantastic talent that could actually take the division up a few notches.

Make sure every one of them has clear and distinct characters. No more random switching between heel and face. Even if I'm 'in charge' of the division, get some women who aren't Stephanie on the writing staff to write stories for the women that aren't high-school drama retreads. Sign more women, including from abroad (eg Japan). Be constantly in the ear of the higher ups about how much money they can make if they make more of an effort to appeal to the female market.

Less brilliant is how they've muted her in recent months but yeah, last year was something else. I'm tempted to say I'd book the division similar to NXT but it still seems so small-scale. It's not so much about characters as it is about a compelling angle - the best times in recent history were Trish/Lita; Trish/Mickie - they hated each other and it was fun to watch. They had freedom in their matches and people bought into it. They came close with AJ/Kaitlyn this year but wouldn't go the extra mile. That feud needed a gimmick match. Basically, they need to stop worrying about the possibility of vaginas upstaging penises.

I think the thing that bothers me more than anything else with the divas is how they'll do basic, first week of training moves and the commentary will talk like it's the pinnacle of a woman's athletic potential while they lose after being hit with six moves. So, you'd see a lot of more wrestling-oriented ones, though you'd also see way more in the way of actual gimmicks beyond just, "Smiling," "Bitch," and, "A Hart." Probably a big increase in the amount of TV time they get too if I were given control over that.

The same thing that I'd do if I was in charge of the men; no one gets to be on TV unless they have a unique, memorable gimmick.

I'd judge on talent - I'd keep those who are great at wrestling and character work on top, and also include those who show promise. Anyone who can't work well in the ring but are able to show character can be valets... and there'd be a lot of cutting, as there's just too many Divas on the main roster right now, a high percentage of them the fans don't care about.

Cancel Total Divas. Or at the very least change it from a faux reality show to being more like Tough Enough/NXT: a show about young women who want to be in WWE going through training and mentoring from the established divas and once in a while from a legendary woman like Lita or Trish.

4 week long tournament to crown the new #1 contender for the Diva's title. The whole time, have Stephanie mention that she cannot wait for AJ to lose the belt, so some prestige can be returned to it.
Final matchup - Brie Bella vs Tamina. AJ on commentary. Brie and Tamina both knocked down at one point, and Stephanie McMahon comes out. Hops on commentary and continues to say she cannot wait for AJ to lose the belt. AJ flips, locks Stephanie in the Black Widow. In the confusion, Tamina gets the win.
Steph passes out, it takes trainers, refs, and backstage guys to pull AJ off of Stephanie.
PPV comes - screwjob ending with Tamina getting the win after Authority interference. AJ sitting in ring defeated as Tamina leaves with Authority and the belt. Have every single Diva come out to the ring, heel and face. They're all unified now against the Authority.
Storyline for the next few PPVs is AJ getting screwed out of her rematch, other Divas getting the shot, but either losing clean or having shenanigans prevent them from getting a fair fight.

I'd probably scrap it. Seriously, I think it's got way too out of hand. There are probably only about 3 Diva's that the larger fan base would even be able to retain the name of. In the days of T&A where seeing sideboob was exciting before everyone had internet I got the point. Now I get it's largely a vehicle for their reality TV show but Diva's in PG WWE is things like that awful musical chairs segment. It just doesn't work that well.
I'd keep AJ and one or two others around but I really don't get what draws about the Diva's as a collective. If they had a proper credible woman's division it'd be different but aside from a very select few it's merely window dressing and has been since the resurgence of women's "wrestling" in WWE in the mid to late 90s which was entirely based on "OMG, look at her ass".
I'd get some mean, nasty, vicious women's wrestlers in from Japan, maybe stick a few in masks and really revamp the division and the 'Diva's with shiny teeth and zero personality can be valets to the cocky heels, or something.

I'd reuse the Attitude Model.
1. Bring in women of various levels of talent and appearance. 2. All women on the roster will receive on-the-job training from road agents (like what Finlay was doing in the 2000's) no matter their level of skill, to adapt them to the WWE safe style. 3. The most talented women will form the wrestling division, and will occasionally do some modeling work. 4. The less-talented women will be used primarily as models and occasionally as wrestlers. 5. Out of that second tier, those with the least level of talent will almost unanimously be jobbers. 6. One woman may be at the top of the division but the reality is that it really depends on 2 or 3 strong hands. 7. Women interact with male wrestlers on a regular basis. They get involved in storylines, in matches, and stables. 8. Pushes are meritocratic. If fans like you and you bust your butt in your matches and programs, you're getting pushed. If you're not over, you're not going to get much.

Give them a chance to talk that's not at the announce table
No more matches where everybody gets a jobber entrance
Hire people that actually wrestle instead of training someone from the ground up & hoping they become decent
No more feuds over a diva's looks
Give Alicia Fox back her Nelly rip-off theme
Have them interact with the male wrestlers in promos and mixed tags

Let Total Divas continue, because I understand the ratings it brings. However, completely reduce the roles of the Bella Twins, Eva Marie and anyone else who might join the cast without a wrestling background to valets or in the case of Brie Bella, occasional minor feud in the Divas Division. Make sure each female has a clear cut role, and don't flip them back and forth each week. Once that's done...
-Put them on 10 PM on Raw every week, no matter the circumstance -Call up Paige, Emma, Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Shaul Guerrero (only as a jobber for Raquel, though) while maintaining their gimmicks -Build on AJ's overness, and use her to feud with Paige upon Paige winning a number 1 contender's tournament -Make Sasha Banks/Summer Rae a team, and have them consistently team up against the face divas -In addition to the 10 PM segment (which could be either a 10-15 match or promo), give them promos and matches throughout the show so that they get 30-45 minutes a show on Raw, and 25-30 on Smackdown -Have mixed tag match main events to establish heel and face divas -Get rid of the current Divas title and make it look like an actual title -Soak up talent on the independent scene if at all possible, and roll them in as well -Use Del Rey sporadically, and keep her as a trainer if need be

In the short-term I'd build on what they're doing now but make it a Divas vs Total Divas vs NXT feud which plays out over all the shows.
It would lead to something like AJ/Kaitlyn/Fox vs Bellas/Natalya vs Paige/Emma/Bayley for the very special "get as many people on the WM30 card as possible" match.
However there could be lots of interesting things spun off from that, the uneasy alliances, people swapping sides, Summer Rae being torn between the NXT and divas factions, each authority figure handling the situation differently (with the emphasis being on Vickie and Steph) to the point each group essential has a "home" show, the different sides trying to capture each others belts etc.
