Was there a reason for them to have Hogan's old theme song as their own?
Was it a backstage rib?

Because Will Sasso did a Hulk Hogan impersonation.

Iggy Pop was unironically a Hulk Hogan fan?

I think it was because Hogan was a stooge back in the day.

One could try to take a deeper meaning from it that Hogan represented what Vince's ideal champion was, he was a "stooge" in a sense then back in the day by the story's narrative. Much like how The Rock would become for Vince for a time.
However I always took it to show just how delusional the Stooges themselves were. That they thought they were these great men, so great they could use a song that so many identified with a modern day Hercules.

Brisco and Patterson often mocked Hogan with his Hulkamania poses.

To bury Hogan. End of discussion. And then almost immediately make him WWF Champion when he does return.

It was a rib on Hogan, but also to make the Stooges look like buffoons, which of course was the point.

Oh no I didn't mean those Stooges... I meant Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco. LOL Haha. Somehow I managed to forego the recurring characters of Patterson and Brisco and remember the one-shot guest host appearance of the Three Stooges movie remake. Patterson and Brisco almost undoubtedly had that theme as a rib on Hogan. Wrestling's petty.

Same reason Pat and Jerry mocked Hogan's poses when they came out. To mock Hulk Hogan.

The best part about it, of course, being that "Real American" Pat Patterson was French-Canadian.

Gerry Brisco likes to mock a man before he kicks the hell out of him and leaves him in the dirt.

Another example of WWE petulantly mocking their own product. Specifically their all-time greatest star, which makes even less sense.

And, If I recall correctly... Jack & Jerry Brisco were quite instrumental in Hulk's early career.

Both to rib Hogan and to basically make the Stooges look delusional.

Was there a reason for them to have Hogan's old theme song as their own? Was it a backstage rib? They're old. Hogan's old. Get it?
