Having seen three Arsenal players in the space of 4-5 years break their legs, Silva's leg break still shocked me. Unlike all of those, this wasn't forced by a dangerous tackle, it was Weidman trying to protect himself to check a kick. Totally unfortunate, and I hope that Weidman isn't tainted by either of the ways he beat Silva, even though he was winning both of the fights before their finishes. Silva is apparently set to recover within 6 months, but adding on the fight camp, it'll be a year at least before he comes back, and he'll be 39, pushing on 40, by then. He'll either retire, or only have one or two more fights, and it won't be at the same level.
Rousey answered a few questions - we know she can go beyond the first round now. Still question Tate's tactics trying to play Rousey's game. Rousey will now relish playing the biggest heel in the promotion, and her next fight is in just eight weeks' time. UFC will make a lot of money off what would have normally been a B level PPV, as fans pay hoping that McMann will be the one to shut her up.

The fascinating thing could be how WWE react if 170 draws great numbers... Would they finally see that women CAN become a draw and bring legitimacy to their Divas division through new acquisitions, NXT callups and great matches and angles? This poster says... HIGHLY unlikely.

If this is truly the end, I can't think of a GOAT going out in worse fashion than maybe outside of Bobby Orr. Just awful. Muhammad Ali and Willie Mays are up there as well.

Woke up this morning, was going to check the results when I see I have a message on Facebook with a link in it.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY? UNGAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Jesus Christ on a bicycle, that was gnarly as shit. I mean, I wanted Weidman to win, but in the words of Michael Cole, "NOT THIS WAY!"
I mean, I don't like Silva, but I respect what he's done, and it's a shame that he's probably go out like this rather than getting one last hurrah and going out on his own terms.

I just waiting to see if Weidman ends up testing positive for adamantium. How does THAT happen off a check block? Silva threw the kick, shin-first, with an incredible torque. That force then met a completely elevated and stabilized knee of Weidman. Baseball bats have exploded with equal force from a thrown BASEBALL. The physics were just there.

Can't wait for tonight's card. I'm going Weidman, Rousey, and Browne. Haven't read the rest of the thread, but well played sir. Only picked one "gimme" and nailed the Top 3

It's a rare occasion where i'm glad i missed a UFC PPV. I'm too much of a squeamish chickens*** when it comes to gory and gruesome stuff. I hope Anderson recovers in the best and fastest way possible, and i am sure Weidman didn't want the fight to end this way. I know a win's a win, but you want a decisive victory. Not a decision based on a freak accident of some kind.

Man Silva has had a massive fall from grace over the past year hasn't he? It's like his castle has tumbled down around him. Didn't watch the PPV but that gif....my god. What a brutal way to go if that is the case Edit; Just found this

Whatever one thinks of Silva you have to feel bad about how is career his most likely going to end. Showboating and getting KO'd and throwing a kick and having his tibia turn to rubber. A bad ending for one of the all time greats.

A bad ending for one of the all time greats. Well the first one is kinda his fault. If he wasn't showboating, he probably would've won. The second one? I think physics had it out for him.

Almost like he was just throwing it out to ward Weidman off and expecting to miss. Makes you wonder if Anderson's been getting lazy and it's made him pay twice now.

I'm still confused as to why Weidman is considered a verified, proven champion now because he won Round 1. People are pushing forth the fact that "Well, he was winning the fight. He had things handled."
Great. He won Round 1 and they were having an even Round 2 with a couple better moments for Weidman. Guess that means Weidman was destined to win. Go back in time and hand Chael Sonnen the title because for over 4 Rounds he showed how he was obviously the champion and deserving of the title.
It's a bummer, but it's also true that in public eye, Weidman will be seen as a fluke champion. Anderson clowned and beat Anderson followed by a legitimate lucky break is the majority's tale. Point out Weidman double pumping the jab to set up the knockout...people will shrug that off. Point out he worked on checking kicks (I still find that a hilarious talking point shoved forth by a baffled Joe Rogan)...people will shrug that off.
Weidman got passive aggressive questions at the presser but he's going to be followed by them until a legitimate title defense. He's in the "Rocky" situation between movies 2 and 3 (But he's already skipped to the constantly hugged by the American Flag from part 4 though). Clubber Lang is coming all hopped up on TRT.

I even joked with a colleague there that even if Weidman literally tore Silva's head off and killed him that some of these guys STILL would be undermining his win. Through the wonders of interdimensional travel,I have video footage of that fight.
