Something in the vein of Inbetweeners of maybe Peep Show. I've seen a lot of the better known Britcom in those veins, but I'm sure I've missed something.

I am not well versed in British shows AT ALL, but I've been enjoying The IT Crowd lately. I've watched the first few episodes on Netflix and it's pretty good, although I'm not sure how similar it is to the shows you mentioned.

I'm Alan Partridge, if you haven't seen it. Absolutely brilliant.

Try Spaced
It's got Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in it and Edgar Wright directs. The idea for Shaun Of The Dead came from this scene
Fawlty Towers and Alan Partridge are good calls too.
The Thick Of It is a good one (I've only seen the first season but so far so good, lots of creative swearing, the creator of it did an American version for HBO called Veep - hjaven't seen that though)
And Gavin & Stacey is good.

I've seen a good number of the shows mentioned so far, but there are definitely some good suggestions. I really need to finally watch Fawlty Towers from start to finish. I'm a huge Python fan and have been aware of Fawlty Towers for a long time, but have been putting off watching it (for no particular reason) for about 10 years. I haven't checked out Game On, Bottom, the Royal Family or Absolutely Fabulous at all yet. Are any of them based around high school or college aged characters? For some reason I've been really digging stories based on characters in that age group lately.

Game On is about three twenty-something flatmates, Bottom is about two sad violent middle-aged flatmates, The Royle (I didn't spell that wrong) Family is about an everyday family but it's all very subtle and is told in real time and Absolutely Fabulous is about two middle aged women who are trying to stay hip and young. Personally my favourite of the three is Bottom. The slapstick violence and double entendres are a bit much sometimes but the actual jokes and banter are pure gold.

Cool, it sounds like Bottom is something that would right up my alley too. I'll try that one out first and see how it is. I'll probably give the other three a look a little while later too.

Black Books and The Young Ones are my two favorite British comedies, based on the very few I've actually watched.

It's not really a Sitcom or such, but if your after a British show about people of high school age check out Skins, it follows people at sixth form (equivalent to high school) and whilst dealing with some hard hitting issues (it was quite groundbreaking in the issues it dealt with) there is a lot of comedy in it as well. It's writing teams average age was 21 and they consulted with teenagers, it changes cast every 2 seasons, Seasons 1 - 4 are awesome season 5 onwards sucks. They did do a seventh season which was drastically different in tone and went back and revisited some of the characters from the first two generations as adults which was quite good though. Alot of familiar faces guest star in it usually as parents.

Black Adder.
Series 1 is just so-so. Series 2 and onward is easily some of the best comedy ever produced.

As far as sitcoms go, Black Books is probably my favourite.
Within the sort of age group you mentioned - not actually a sitcom, but Misfits is awesome. I gave up after the third season, but recently went back and watched the rest and I still love it. Like Skins but with superpowers and is funny. And actually good.
As far as current British sitcoms go, I really like Bad Education, Miranda and Mrs Brown's Boys. None really in the 'high-school' age group, but they're good.

I'll second that as it's far funnier than most modern sit-coms, well the first three seasons anyway as I gave up after that too, maybe I should go back and watch the rest.

I hate it when shows replace the cast, so I stopped watching it. I marathoned season 4 and 5 last month and really enjoyed it. You just kind of need to let go of the original cast and forget about them, and you enjoy it.
