As other have said Gunner's title shot is just going to set up a James Storm/Magnus feud. I'd like to see Storm come out to stop EC III or Spud from costing Gunner the match with Magnus, but in the end Gunner still loses. Storm gets a title shot a couple of week later and the same thing goes down, but rather than trying to help Storm we see Gunner turn on him and side with Magnus. The TNA roster is thin right now and they will have to use what they got. Thanks to Punk, Daniel Bryan and The Shield making it big in WWE the top indy guys are going to stay away from TNA because being a "TNA guy" hurts their shot at getting a WWE contract. I doubt this leading to Storm saving the day because he's behaving like a whiny bitch because Gunner got the title shot and he didn't. And if Gunner turns heel because of Storm getting a title shot after him, that's beyond Russoesque. Storm is going to turn heel and feud with Gunner for the next half year. Indy guys are bypassing TNA because it hurts them financially in the short term moreso. It used to be indy wrestlers used to would wrestle for TNA and the indies during their off time. But with TNA putting in the no wrestling for shows that do ippvs, tv, and dvds, it limits the money needed to supplement their income. Plus TNA handles the outside bookings of most of their people, raise the booking fees, and take a nice size cut of it. Not that many wrestlers especially folks who are in demand want to give up that.

I don't watch TNA anymore but this is legitimately main eventing these days? 6 months ago this would be second or third on the card.
Not going to say TNA is dying or anything silly like that but it's hard to argue the point that they're not just a glorified independent company.
ROH has bigger stars these days.

I don't know where the idea of this setting up Storm/Magnus is coming from, because Thursday made it pretty damn obvious who gets the heel turn of GunStorm, and sadly it's not Gunner. Storm might need the refresh more as it is, as he's been freefalling off the card ever since the door got slammed on his title dreams. In fact, I'd say James Storm getting the World title shot as it stands is almost as laughable as the notion of Gunner getting a World title shot. Actually, there's some hyperbole in that statement, but only because it's Gunner involved. James Storm being world champion is pretty much the TNA equivalent of Jack Swagger being the WHC, and boy does that statement sadden me right now.

Remember how Storm looked like he was going to come out the next top babyface during his original Bobby Roode feud?

And even though he came out on the losing end, Storm was still pretty damn over. But then they didn't do shit with him before shunting him into the tag division. Is it any wonder that he's just dead nowdays?

I would hardly call Gunner new anymore. Or a star. Or wanted.

>complain about Gunner in terms of new stars. > no mention of EC3, Bro Mans, Sam Shaw, Ion, Magnus, Tapa, Spud or Perkins. -Personally, I think ECIII is trash but I know a lot of other people like him. -BroMans are talented but boy, do they look like complete goofs. TNA has done nothing to make me believe they deserve to be champions. They don't get elevated by the titles, they just brought the prestige of the titles down. - Sam Shaw is doing a good job right now, I think. Really impressed by how well he put his character over in the ring. - Ion? He's funny in his role, no doubt, but how is he even close to being a new star? Dude has been on the roster for like 2 years. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, so has Robbie E. SO both guys are disqualified. Still like Jessie though. -Alright, Magnus has been on the roster for years too but he's just now entering the main event scene so I'll give him a pass. Flat out, he's just not that good. He's big and british sure but nothing else about him sticks out. He's unspectacular in the ring and needs to be carried to good-great matches and really can't carry long talking segments. - Tapa is straight trash. Third rate Tamina Snuka. Only thing she's got going for her is the ass cape. - Spud is aight. I'm not really a fan but he serves his purpose. - Perkins? LMAO, when was the last time he even appeared on TV? Commentary doesn't even mention him anymore so I'll guess he got the budget cutter too.

I'm not saying they're all triple A talent, but wondering why, every time talk of "new talent" comes in, the only talent people bring up to mock it is Gunner. Like he was the last hiring of talent TNA ever did and gave him a subsequent push. WTF?

The fact that Gunner could conceivably challenge Magnus for the top title is quite amusing to me. I don't even think that they suck or anything, but in what world is that a viable main event/world title match?

It's never strictly a cred issue. Gunner WINNING, however, is another matter.

I like Gunner. I think he's talented. His promo style though reminds me of something from the 70s and 80s, which sometimes can be a good thing, but it's not with him. I think him as more of a silent killer who doesn't talk much would be much better.
One issue I have with the Feast or Fired case though is how nobody who wins the World Title shot wins it. It's like the reverse Money in the Bank contract.
Not only that, but Storm comes across so whiney, I almost hope they're not going heel with Gunner because of how bad Storm has looked in the past few weeks.
