Yeah, there does seem to be a growing consensus of evidence that it was a bad day for Flair and his fans. I still don't buy the "he's living in a hotel" part of the original post. He was probably staying at a hotel for the day, most likely.
He had some sort of fight with the promoter and it ruined his day--fans got their feelings (understandably) hurt in the process. I try not to make sweeping judgments about wrestlers when I hear bad stories--because they are human beings, of course and they have very stressful jobs/lives. I've heard a mixture about Ric Flair with fans. My Wife says he was just a really polite, soft spoken, nice man. Some people say he can't be bothered.
Fans aren't always the nicest people to be around either--even if it is your job. Doesn't excuse bad behavior, but it's a more balanced view.
It's almost a shock, for example, to read the writings of Angry Mick Foley in the back of reprints of "Have a Nice Day". If you just read those chapters, you'd think he's a jaded, miserable SOB. Wrestlers don't always enjoy the fan interaction or fan attention.
I wonder what the fight with the promoter was specifically about. That can color things.

I see why some of you are suspicious but as I said originally I am friends and work with these two men. The story was pretty detailed and they'd have no reason to inexplicably make up a story about meeting Ric Flair at an Applebee's of all places.
Ive been a member here for 8 years and never swayed anyone with a newzy BS story, so I assure you I personally didn't make anything up. Everything I said came from them.
Hopefully Flair was just working who ever was on the phone (perhaps the promoter he eventually got into it with) for more money, saying he was living out of a hotel

I just question the validity of your friends story of events. Being angry at somebody can lead to detailed exaggerations made to make somebody look worse.

Update
I was talking to my dad who works in the same warehouse as me, he was actually the first person that heard the story. But he corrected something. The argument wasn't in an Applebee's. It was the hotel bar. He also told me something I was not aware of that Jorge (one of the guys) filmed part of the altercation with Flair on his cell phone. So I'm gonna try to get that video and I'll post it on here.

Triple H needs to track him down and beg the man to go through the WWE's rehab program at this point as even before the loss of his son, he seemed like a man circling the drain. Also the fans in the hotel were out and out d*cks. It doesn't matter how big a fan you are of a guy, how long he was on TV, if he clearly wants to be left alone, you leave him alone. Didn't he just go through rehab sponsored by WWE? Yeah, following the Summerslam video game panel he supposedly went as WWE wasn't going to use him anymore until he did. Wasn't Flair living in the Charlotte motel his son died in? Yeah, he was. He and Reid were sharing a room if I remember right.

Triple H and Stephanie should build a loft for him above their garage.

Triple H and Stephanie should build a loft for him above their garage. Until Flair walks into their house wearing only his robe, and asks Stephanie how she'd like to take a trip to Space Mountain.

Neither was I. I don't question you as a poster. It's just the fact that these guys sound like they were acting like assholes. Usually, assholes are liars. Not always, but usually. Not that the whole thing was made up but they don't exactly sound like the most trustworthy sources for celebrity gossip.

And the guy's made it to 64 and is still in decent health, addictions notwithstanding and relatively speaking, of course. Maybe he regrets it all, maybe he doesn't, who knows, but some people just aren't programmed to go home early every night and invest sensibly in a Roth IRA. There can be plenty of regrets if you go too far in that direction too. Flair choose to live as hard as he could and he's managed to do it for a very long time.

So these two guys you know were absolute dickholes to a clearly already perturbed Flair, eh. Great story.
