More info and images about the new Super Sentai series has surfaced, including a reveal of the villains dubbed The Dark Line. The good guys are The Rainbow line and according to the article are all childhood friends. www.orendsrange.com/2014/01/ressha-sentai-toqger-villains-revealed.htmlwww.heroshock.com/?p=8717 (Site is in french but the images are a lot sharper.) Yep as expected the villain designs fully outclass those of the rangers with the whole Old Western/Victorian England motif they've got going, especially the foot soldiers which are based off of old timey train robbers.

Yeah, the villain designs look really cool.
Hell, there's still some intrigue regarding the Rangers themselves in terms of sixth rangers, powerups etc.
I'm definitely gonna give this a spin when it starts just so I can watch something current on the Sentai front. Then I can have the whole "Super Hero Time" experience in my own home by watching both every week!

Just finished Brave 46 {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Gawd damn never thought a grown man could shed a tear for a villan but damn it it happened , but then tears turned to fist pumping badassness first when the general LITERALLY gets axed and then seeing Torin return and just kicking ass in the darkness of the land.
I am gonna miss this series so bad

It's almost like there were two different design teams who did ToQger's heroes and villains.

So I'm gonna watch Brave 46 when I get home, finished Zyuranger, and I'm about ten episodes into Dairanger. Kakuranger, Shinkenger, and Jetman are next on my list before I go for Gokaiger.
So let the Sentai newb ask: which series are the ones to avoid? I know tastes differ but there should be a bit of consensus. Also keep in mind i like the comedy series as much as the dramatic ones.

I've not seen either but Goseiger is seen as a rather dull show by most. Being sandwiched between Shinkenger and Gokaiger probably colours that opinion somewhat though.
Go-Busters is one that divides opinion as well.

I'm in the middle of a Goseiger re-watch using the resubbed version by MillionFold Curiosity Fansubs.
They're releasing them by the arcs, having just recently released the third. I really can't get into why I enjoyed it without getting into some pretty heavy spoilers, but you get a new perspective on subsequent watches, I think.
Go-Busters is one of my favorite Sentai shows ever. It was written by Yasuko Kobayashi, who also wrote Gingaman, TimeRanger, Shinkenger, and is currently writing ToQger.
On the Kamen Rider side, she wrote Ryuki, Den-O, and OOO.

I've thought about giving it a spin if only to see what they skipped over to condense it into 20 episodes for Power Rangers Megaforce, although I understand there may be a bit more Goseiger still in the Gokaiger-heavy Super Megaforce.
I'm almost halfway through Shinkenger right now, having just watched "The Fateful War" movie, and I'm really into it. I have a question though, is it necessary to watch the episodes of Kamen Rider Decade with the crossover? I#m curious to know if I'm missing anything by not watching those.

I just finished Goseiger's 26th episode, and so far, I have not come across an adapted episode that I do not think Power Rangers had improved upon in some way. I don't think you'll lose out on too much if you don't. It was a fun little romp, but I don't recall too much interaction between the Shinkenger and Decade teams.

I haven't seen much of it myself but I heard Ohranger (The show that Power Rangers: Zeo adapted) wasn't all that great, in fact it took a pounding in the ratings when it first aired in Japan causing Toei to do a full on comedy series with Carranger.

I watched OhRanger recently after marathoning Kakuranger and I thought OhRanger was pretty good not great but good enough not to be unwatchable , I have read that it gets such a bad wrap because it hit too closely to home with certain tragedies that were taking place in Japan at the time.

It's a bit more complicated than that. Originally, OhRanger was going to be call back to the era of the 1980s, even going as far as bringing back Hirohisa Soda, the head writer from 1982's Goggle V to 1990's Fiveman to the main writing staff, and was planned to be an intense toned show. Then the Sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway happened. And those plans went bye-bye. Interesting to note, though, while OhRanger's ratings may have suffered, the toy sales remain one of Sentai's best, from what I understand.

Holy f*** Gaim is so good, perfect way to wash Wizard out of my mouth. I never saw Wizard, and my first Kamen Rider show was Black, but I'm really into Gaim right now. I love how it starts off kinda wacky (Really, the whole fruit-based Samurai thing is weird to begin with), but the last few weeks it's just taken a REALLY dark turn. On a side note, I can't stop myself from singing "KNIGHT OF SPEAR!!" whenever Kaito transforms into Baron, and a giant banana falls on his head.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}IMAGINAAAAAAAATTTTTTTIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNN!!! I'ma give this show a chance, because I love Kyoryuger so damn much... But, seriously, ToQ Red creeps me the f*** out so far. He seems like the type of guy who will be your best friend, then you wake up one night with him staring at you while wearing pieces of your skin as a hat kinda creepy.
