Meanwhile, we're all overlooking the more awesome casting of Jeremy Irons as Alfred.....?

Eisenberg is great at playing the anxious douche with a superiority complex, but has he ever played something else?

So we're going with the geeky whiny dot com billionaire stereotype rather then the intimidating ruthless physically imposing industrial billionaire stereotype?

Eisenberg is great at playing the anxious douche with a superiority complex, but has he ever played something else? He wasn't an anxious douche with a superiority complex in Zombieland, nor in Cursed. In both of those he was the anxious and sometimes sarcastic loser.

Fair enough, he just seemed like he would have been if he had any sort of power.

Do you think he will have more naysayers against him than Heath Ledger and even more to prove? Because that was one of the best "f*** you i am this character" performances ever considering all the backlash Ledger had when he was first announced (I think it was the 'really!!! the knights tale dude' reaction if i remember correctly) . But Eisenberg just isn't at that same level of talent I don't think. I definitely think so. Especially since unlike Ledger, Eisenberg has to deal with the backlash of not being who everyone wanted. Ledger only had to deal with trying to live up to Nicholson's performance. I don't remember there being a consensus "We wanted this actor to be the Joker, not the dude from Brokeback Mountain!" at the time. I think there was a movement for Crispin Glover at one point. None of the names really offend me, so I will wait and see. I still think Marvel has a better grip on things (no, no, Iron Man never had a third sequel, nopenopenope...)

He'll be fine, Eisenberg was awesome in the Social Network. As for age, Luthor and Superman are contemporaries and Henry Cavill and Jesse Eisenberg are both 30. Despite Lex being a scientist and, later a businessman and politician, he was also childhood friends with Superman, per Jerry Siegel.

Good, that leaves Michael Cera free to play Doomsday.

But for real, not knocking Jesse, he's a fantastic actor, but I don't know if he can pull of Luthor. I'm optimistic, but then again I've been repeating that to myself with every detail that has been revealed about this project.

I thought the RDJ announcement was praised on the internet. Plus there was excitement that Iron Man can launch this acclaimed cult actor into A-Lister status just like how Pirates of the Caribbean did for Johnny Depp.

Not going to lie. The Luthor casting news was the first piece of news about this I actually like.
