At least Heath Ledger was of an appropriate age, build, and height to pull off The Joker physically. Jesse Eisenberg can act as good as he wants to, but he's still going to look like a joke when they have him try to do a face-to-face monologue with Cavill's Superman. It's going to look like Superman being threatened by a high school kid.

Jeremy Irons as Alfred will be interesting.
But I thought they gave that role to Timothy Dalton?
I would actually preferred Dalton.. Since I can picture him playing a butler role that used to be a badass.

They sure are taking advantage of the "THINK OF HEATH LEDGER!!!!" casting rule. Well, the thing is, Snyder ruined one movie before with godawful casting despite the actor being talented (Goode in Watchmen), so I don't have much faith in him to pull it off.

Good, that leaves Michael Cera free to play Doomsday. I would pay good money to see that.

Jesse Eisenberg sure looks a lot like Michael Rosenbaum bald...(I lifted the image from a news site that was reporting on both the TMNT movie and this in the same video and that is why they are in the background for anyone wondering )

Superman is young too. Remember the MoS Supes is rookie Supes. So young Superman means young Luthor, imo. Isn't he like 32 in the story?

Yeah, Superman is 33 in the movie... he's not a teenager or a 20 year old... he's 33 about the age he is in the comics.
So no, you wouldn't need a young Lex... nor in this universe is Lex not established we saw Lexcorp stuff throughout Metropolis and at least one truck in Smallville.

Maybe they offered the role of Luthor to Cranston & Washington & Phoenix & they declined it ? I mean who wouldn't love to work in a Zack Snyder's movie

Let's think of some good bald guys who could fill the Luthor role. Uh, Bruce Willis, Patrick Stewart, Vin Diesel, Ben Kingsley, Jason Statham, John Malkovich, Howie Mandel, Michael Chiklis, LL Cool J, Chris Daughtry...OOH I got it! The Great Wallace Shawn! Who is honestly more diabolical than Vizzini?

But for real, not knocking Jesse, he's a fantastic actor, but I don't know if he can pull of Luthor. I'm optimistic, but then again I've been repeating that to myself with every detail that has been revealed about this project. Michael Keaton, Heath Ledger, Robert Downey Jr, so forth and so on... Still don't like Keaton as Bats. Affleck wouldn't be my first choice but he's a better fit than Keaton, like Mcconaughey he's a guy that has come a long way. Thought RDJ was a solid choice all along. Wasn't sure what to think about Ledger but he obviously nailed it. As far as Eisernberg goes he was preceded by Hackman and and Spacey so it isn't like previous Superman flicks had the comics version of Luthor either. I certainly can see him pulling-off a smart a-hole that's jealous of Supes. Question is whether he can pull-off megalomaniacal worldbeater smart a-hole that's jealous of Supes.

With Hackman he was actually based on the old mad scientist Lex... since the corporate millionaire Lex hadn't been in the comics yet. Spacey was also that Lex because it was a continuation of those stories. But I think they should have hired Clancy Brown

I still say Michael Keaton was good as Tim Burton's Batman, and wasn't quintessential though he still surprised us in the role.

Keaton was easily, easily the best on-screen Batman. Bale was great, but Keaton edges him out.
