Was half off day at one thrift. Got a stack of horror/drama on VHS. Then at the other thrift got a bunch of Scooby Doo stuff on VHS. Grabbed all four of DC Giants issue 2.

A CD of Compton's Most Wanted's "It's a Compton Thang!" I found it at a music store and it was a Japanese import. It was worth buying.

I decided to go on one last splurge of DVDs/Blu-rays. These will probably be the last ones I buy this year unless I decide I can't live without the Christopher Lee Dracula movies for October viewing or find a super good deal somewhere. Here is the pic of what I got and some descriptions: From top left to bottom right: Stephen King Movie and TV Collection: This is a super good deal with 7 Stephen King projects in one set that Amazon has for under $15. I already watched from this set The Stand and Stephen King's Graveyard Shift. Some of what's on here is actually some classic stuff like Pet Cemetary and The Stand. You do get some crap like Golden Years, which bored me to tears when it was on (though I might force myself to revisit). But for $15 a little crap is worth chewing on. 4 Film Favorites: Horror: This set includes Wolfen, Bad Moon, Body Snatches, and Coma. I was mostly just interested in Wolfen as it is a cheesy, but great werewolf movie from the early 1980s. It came out the same year as An American Werewolf in London and The Howling so it's kind of "the other werewolf movie of 1981." I think I may have seen Body Snatchers a long time ago, but most of this set will be new to me. Unfortunately, it seems to be out of print and I was able to snag the last reasonably priced copy of this off Amazon in new, unopened condition. Lethal Weapon 4 Film Collection: I spotted the Blu-ray at Target for just $9.99. Even cheaper than what Amazon has it for at $12.99. With the quality of these movies and with bonus features even included in the set I just couldn't say no to that. Roger Corman Horror Classics 4 Pack: I originally was not going to get this as I thought it was a Mill Creek release and was skeptical of the video quality. But then I saw it was Shout Factory and for $9.99 seems like a solid deal. These are all water themed horror movies. Included are Up from the Depths, Piranha, Demon of Paradise, and Up from the Depths. I don't think I ever even heard of the last two so it will be a new experience for me. Unfortunately, from the description Shout Factory crammed all four movies onto a single sided disc so it may not be the best picture quality, but I've suffered through 10th generation VHS copies of 1980's shows, so I'm sure it will be acceptable to me. Sonny Chiba Collection: I got this because of a recommendation for the film Legend of the Eight Samurai in another thread I started on FAN. Other than that it also includes Ninja Wars, GI Samurai, and Resurrection of Golden Wolf. All are included with their original Japanese language tracks and are uncut, which I was happily surprised to find on a Mill Creek release of these kind of films. GI Samurai got a rare skull rating from badmovie.org, which is reserved for painfully bad movies, the worst of the worst if you will. As someone who likes painfully bad movies, this has my attention. Bad Dreams/Visiting Hours: This is another double feature released by Scream Factory on Blu-ray. I already watched Bad Dreams and some of the extras it came with. It has quite a generous amount of extras all things considered including an audio commentary, retrospective, and behind the scenes footage. I was surprised to find out it was intended to be a franchise, but as the star of the film pointed out it's tough to sell suicide as a horror franchise. Visiting Hours is more of a bare bones release, but it stars William Shatner and his stuff if always worth a look. X-Ray/Schizoid:Another Scream Factory double feature. I bought this one chiefly because I read originally Schizoid was supposed to be included in Scream Factory's All Night Horror Vol. 1 collection, but had to be replaced due to rights issues. As I loved that collection I figured Schizoid would be in a similar vein to those movies. I'm not too familiar with X-Ray, but they're both 1980's horror and I love 1980's horror. The Blu-ray just contains one interview each with a person from each film and the trailer for Schizoid. The Curse/The Curse 2:This has been released as a double feature on Blu-ray by Scream Factory, but I opted to just get the double feature DVD. The Scream Factory release is bare bones, but still costs about twice as much as the DVD so I opted to save a few bucks. Maybe I'll get Chinese food for lunch with the money I saved. The Town that Dreaded Sundown (1976): This is the gym of the splurge and the first one I popped in when it arrived in the mail. I first read about the movie in 2000 or so when I found out that the killer in this film has the same outfit that Jason would later wear in Friday The 13th Part 2. As a huge Jason film and completest I was immediately intrigued. However, at the time it was only available as a VHS and was pricey. I decided to hold off. When I found out it was available on Blu-ray I was interested, but hesitant as it costs a little more than I like to spend on any Blu-ray. But I figured 18 years or so is too long to wait for any movie and just figured what the hell. It came with a generous amount of extras including a commentary, interviews with people from the film, and some other stuff. It also comes with a bonus DVD that includes another entire film, The Evictors. So it essentially is a double feature release though not billed as such.

The thrift gods were blessing me today. Needed the Tales To Give You Goosebumps book mainly so I can cover a few of the books for the blog (this edition bounds the first three editions). Halloween III was also a must-get. Some of the other Halloween movies were there, but only had enough for one tape and the book (which was 4.99)

Apparently I did something right at home, as not long after I bought "When It Was Big Time (100 Years Of Pro Wrestling In Northern California)" by Rock Rims, I got in the past 2 days: -"Bodyslams: Memoirs Of A Wrestling Pitchman" by Gary Michael Cappetta -"Rowdy: The Roddy Piper Story" finished by Ariel & Colt Toombs "Legends Of Pro Wrestling: 150 Years Of Headlocks, Bodyslams & Piledrivers" by Tim Hornbaker And she preordered Tim's new offering "Death Of The Territories", to be released next month. Woohoo! Yeah I quoted my own post, I'm a dork. But I got Death of the Territories on the 18th. (Price is now $6 cheaper than preorder price on Amazon.) And the week before, I got the Pillman book for $10. Edit: My privacy fence is finished and it is beautiful. My dogs now have extra space to crap on.

Made an unexpected trip to the mall I didn't even know there WAS an NXT calendar, WWEshop doesn't list it and when I checked Amazon, it was actually cheaper to buy it at the mall when you counted shipping and everything, so yay. Also received the shoes I ordered for my Halloween costume.

booked another Disney cruise for the family, but this time during Halloween. so we're dressing up for Halloween and pirate night
it's kind of bitter sweet because we know this is probably going to be our last Disney cruise for a long time. it's the ship we've been on the most (six times)
