Heading to the local video store on Friday nights to pick up the newest NES/SNES/Genesis games instead of them coming in the mail or downloading over wifi.

-Playing war with guns that didn't look like they were dipped in lava first. -Hanging out at a friends house without your ridiculous mother being there too. -Realizing you sucked at something and thus had to adapt or find something you were actually skilled at. -Beating the shit out of the school bully.

-Having a shot at being crowned the Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat champion at your local arcade.
-Being able to buy an M-rated game on your own without lying to your mom about the content (most parents where I was were completely chill with violent games).

Arcades: There used to be one of these in every town. Now you need to travel to major cities (At least in my state) to visit them. The joy of your mum or dad handing you a 10 whilst they ran errands or had coffee next door was awesome and with a 10 you were a king.
Dial Up: Okay so Dial Up sucked but I'm nostalgic about it. The feeling when you're playing a game online and someone calls the phone is something no child should miss out on
Innocence: Going to be honest. I didn't know what a real vagina looked like until I was 14 years old. Kids these days see that stuff way too young. I'm all for sex education but 11-12 year olds watch pornography and start experimenting at a very young age these days. Hell, there was a story a year or two ago where a couple of nine year olds had some kind of sex act in the middle of class. The fact that by 11-12 you know what sex is and you know some positions and may have already experimented is horrible to me.
VHS: I'm still quite the fan and have some VHS of old wrestling shows but they simply don't exist anymore unless you're on eBay or a second hand store.
Video Rental Stores: I remember as a kid every Friday night it would be Pizza and Video Rental night. This would be about a 15-20 dollar night and I looked forward to it from Monday on. My town used to have 5 rental stores now there is only 1. The fact kids won't be able to experience the disappointment of the video game they wanted being rented or the excitement of the store having the newest game in stock is so disheartening.

Media actually being rare. Not talking like original LPs or film reels specifically, but a song, album, movie, TV show being hard to find occurs less and less these days due to the internet spreading everything all over the world. Once something's been digitized, its everywhere.

Freedom
These days, if a kid even draws a picture of a gun, he's suspended, prescribed mind destroying drugs, placed under investigation and possibly red flagged as a potential future killer, even if he's about 5 years old and the gun was a laser he saw on Ben 10.

The joy of getting through all week of school, to finally reach the weekend and watch Saturday morning cartoons. Saturday was the absolute best day of the week when I was a kid. Today, yeah, it's a day off from school...but shows and cartoons can be caught any time on Netflix, Youtube, blip, ect.

The Joy of going to an arcade losing $20 in quarters in less than a half hour and it still being a good day.

They don't have the chance to savour and anticipate anything anymore.
TV shows, films, music etc...it's all become like fast food, designed for instant consumption, it's McEntertainment.
Take albums for example.
Michael Jackson released his albums like this....1979, 1982, 1987, 1991, 1995, 2001
Beyonce = ....2003, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2013
Rihanna = ....2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012
Kanye West = ....2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013

Sure there's some crap with the reality TV shows and such, but in this current era there has never been such a huge choice of excellent drama series to watch. In recent years we've had the likes of Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, The Walking Dead, Lost, Boardwalk Empire, Ripper Street, House etc. The list goes on. We're really spoilt for choice when it comes to great TV. Plus, with the age of Netflix and online streaming, these series are pretty much available to watch for anyone.

Pfft, this is no different then when several generations back bemoaned the loss of the fancy cab for these new-fangled automobiles that all the youngsters were raving about.
