I hope Kass and Spencer become this season's Malcolm and denise otherwise just take this "brain's" tribe outback and lobotomize them.

Here's my recap/analysis if anyone is interested: www.rickey.org/survivor-cagayan-season-premiere-recap-results-hot-girl-grudge/Long story short, I think Garrett might well be one of the dumbest people who's ever played the game. I just felt awful for the Brains tribe since they were in a completely untenable situation. Vote off Garrett and you're stuck with the volatile J'Tia. Vote off J'Tia, and you remain under the Garrett dictatorship. No matter which way they chose to go, they were stuck between a moron and a hard place. Kass had the quote of the episode for me when she asked what, exactly, the criteria was when the producers put together this "Brains" tribe. It's going to be a long season for those four. Longer for some than others, but still...

Well, people sMurf likes so far:
Morgan: Let's face it, being nice doesn't get you jack shit in Survivor. Looking for the Idol was a SMART MOVE. Almost getting caught... not so much. And if she were on a tribe with smart people, they would've seen through her lie.
Tony: I can't explain it, I just love the guy's look. He's a friggin' monster and I want to see him make at least the merge.
Yeah, that's it. People I REALLY DON'T LIKE:
J'Tia: Naonka 2.0, anyone? Maybe she's not a total bitch, but I'm definitely getting that vibe from her...
Cass: Wow, that was a stupid move! "Let's see, J'Tia is bossy, a liability in challenges, and a loose cannon who dumped nearly all our rice in the fire because she was targeted. Garrett's thinking in the best interests of our tribe by wanting to vote her out, but also trying to keep her in check. I know! I'll vote him out, because I'm bitter that he blindsided my ally!" And what's worse is she's probably going to make it pretty far.
I really liked Garrett and David. But David's long-term planning screwed them both over. A shame, because I think both could've gone far if they'd aligned.

J'Tia: Naonka 2.0, anyone? Maybe she's not a total bitch, but I'm definitely getting that vibe from her... J'Tia is a real piece of work. Hell, half that damn tribe has problems, and two of that crazy half is already gone. I think the brains will do better with a tribe shakeup. Their personalities are all too combustible. Everyone thinks they're the smartest one in the room.

Also, I had high hopes for an even three tribe season, just this once. But no such luck. Only question is which two become the Rupert and Jenna/Malcolm and Denise?

Garrett, I just compared him to Phillip, but I think there was a lot of strategy there, too. A shame we'll never know.

Watching people like Garrett get blindsided is one of the joys I get from this game that will never, ever go away.

The entire Brain tribe went full-on moron mode in the first episode. Holy shit.
Garrett was an idiot for trying to play lockdown defense on his entire tribe. Just let them talk. Surely J'Tia would sink her own ship anyway. Tasha was an idiot for openly going "I really need to talk to some of you." Boom! Instantly sketchy to everyone. Clearly she wanted to scheme. It ended up helping her in the end because it killed Garrett's chances, but the tribe is F'd in the A now challenge-wise.
And how in god's name do you keep J'Tia around? She proved that she isn't a help at camp, can't design a shelter, but likes to boss people around. She proved that she was the worst swimmer of the group so she sucks physically, but she blew a HUGE lead in the puzzle, showing that she can't do the mental games either. And then to top it all off, she throws the GD rice in the fire and shows the tribe that she's volatile and will screw everything up if things don't go her way.
Like... she couldn't lay down and let them vote her out without a fight. But she was far and away the worst member of the tribe and was the SOLE reason they didn't get Immunity. For her to act like it was ridiculous to consider voting her out was maddening. You gotta handle your shit better than that. You're the one who put them in the situation, AND you're the one who is going to make everyone go hungry as well? The soul of Brandon Hantz lives on.
In the end Garrett had the lay-up vote going his way and he pissed it away, not unlike J'Tia with the puzzle. So he ruined his own game, but at the same time.... the tribe had to at least hedge their bets that they could win more challenges and have a higher quality of life around camp with Garrett than with J'Tia.
And Kass.... I was with her up until the point she got mad smug after voting out Garrett. You were going to get shot in the foot one way or the other, and you had to choose which foot you wanted to put a bullet in. Not really something to be all smiley and dickish about afterwards.
Spencer truly is the only one to cheer for on the "Brains" tribe right now. Unfortunately I don't see that tribe winning too many challenges, and Kass isn't likely to risk a tie-breaker vote to try and save him at any point.
Finally.... who I like.
Woo's my top pick right now. Love that guy. Love his friendship with Cliff as well. I hope they both make it a long way, but I could definitely see Woo making it to the end.
Lindsey solely for the impersonation of Trish. Sarah all-around I do like though. She seems like a tough cookie who could make it far.
LJ. He probably won't last past the merge, but there's kind of a quiet strength to him at the moment. He's stepped up big time for the Beauty tribe.
Brice. DEFINITE gamer. As long as he doesn't fall into the trap of being the gamer/schemer that gets too personally aggressive and mean, I see him as a final 3 player.
Morgan also won me over a bit with that crafty lie she came up with on the spot. I see her likely as the second person gone from the Beauty tribe if they hit a rough patch, but if they can make it fairly intact to the merge... she won't win or anything, but a possible final 5 or 6 spot for her.
So yeah. Woo, Cliff, Sarah, LJ, Brice, Spencer, and Morgan. All faves.
Double Edit: Tony's going to end up f***ing up the Woo/Cliff team with his stupid Immunity Idol.
HALLELUJAH it was good to have all new players this season.

that premiere was so good though guys! I had to come here because I need to gush about it to ever audience that will listen. The balanced edit, the tribal councils, the interesting cast really bringing the entertainment and laughs and everything, the genuinely shocking Garrett blindside, just everything.
Also, Morgan <3_<3 . I'm grateful to the survivor editors for all that footage of her searching for the idol.
