As long as he doesn't wrestle in a t-shirt or cosplay as the Joker, I welcome this with open arms. He proved he didn't need WWE to be a name. But Vince owns the bulk of his career. If he even comes to WWE to compete, it's likely only for a limited number of matches, anyhow. Might as well do it so later in life he doesn't beat himself up over wasting so much time in TNA in the twilight of his career. He proved what he needed to prove - have your big moment, Stinger.

If Sting isn't ripping off The Crow or draped in the colors of a little girl's Lisa Frank folder set, he's not Sting!

Plus side, if Sting doesn't debut until after Mania, hopefully he gets in shape before then. From what I've heard, the plan if he does sign is to announce it on Mania itself and have his debut be at the next night on RAW Personally, it's kind of disappointing- if you're doing that, I think it'd be cooler to keep the questions going for the month- but if it's done, arrange it so that 11:05 2/24, the very first thing that goes over the WWE Network is the first vignette for Sting in the WWE....that'd just be an awesome moment. BTW who owns the rights to the Sting character? I know that guy used the nWo Sting character for a while in Japan. Was "Regular Sting" ok with it? I'd assume it was a mixture of the NJPW/WCW agreement for him to use nWo Sting in Japan- but if not, keep in mind that "Regular Sting" is very reasonable about his trademark/copyrights (from others: Regular Sting owning the "Sting" copyright, the singer Sting had problems with the issue- but Sting's always been fair with the copyright agreement for the two (a token sum of a dollar per Sting concert, plus singer-Sting will give wrestler-Sting free tickets to his shows every now and then.) I'd assume it was the same for nWo Sting.

They need to force him to take the shirt off and TUCK HIS FREAKING PANTS INTO HIS BOOTS!
He didn't look in terrible shape on he last impact. Plus they can cover him more like his starcade match with hogan.

Honestly expecting Jerry McDevitt to finalise the contract, have Sting sign it and then beat the holy hell out of Sting under the provision that Sting is contractually obligated to get the crap kicked out of him every day. Sting just signed it as McDevitt seemed so nice.

Borden Steven showing up in NXT will definitely cause shockwaves around the industry. If this is true (and I'll have to see it to believe it), then debuting Sting the night after Mania is the smart move. The smarky crowd will recognize and likely pop big for Sting, whereas a younger, more neutered crowd in the middle of no where probably wouldn't react much for him. I don't know what confounds me more about this statement: the idea that any wrestling crowd anywhere wouldn't react to Sting in a WWE ring, or that New Orleans is "in the middle of nowhere". You misread the statement. I said he wouldn't get a big reaction if he showed up in a crappy location with a less smarky/younger crowd. New Orleans, much less NO the night after WM, does not fall under that category, nor did I imply that. Saving Sting for the night after WM is smart as 90% of the people who show up, based on the last two years, are smarks. Secondly, Sting has been out of the mainstream wrestling picture for about 13 years. TNA draws about 1/4th or 1/5th of WWE's audience weekly (depending on which "season" it is). Plus, Sting is at a disadvantage from a historical standpoint because he is a WCW guy, and the WWE doesn't always celebrate those guys, especially if they are no on the payroll. Sting might as well have been sitting at home since 2001. His reaction wouldn't change. People here greatly understate how bad crowds are now as far as wrestling history is concerned. People seem to think Sting or Warrior (as big of a Warrior mark as I am) can show up anywhere and get pops like they did in the 80's and 90's. Outside of Hogan, Rock, Austin, and some of the bigger iconic names, those pops don't happen anymore, especially for guys out of the limelight as long as Sting (and Warrior) have been. The entire fanbase has changed many times over since they were last in WCW. Their reactions will be hit or miss depending on location, IMO, although Warrior's reaction should be pretty good regardless. But again, the night after Mania? It will, and that's why the WWE should save him for that. What they do with him after that point is a different story.

If, big 'if' of course, he signs then holding him off for WrestleMania or the post-WM Raw would definitely seem the way to go. Spend the time until then getting into better shape so he can ditch the damn t-shirt and chipping off the ring rust with the NXT guys (off-screen natch) would be smart. If they really need him to pop up before then they can just sling a trench coat on him in the meantime, it's not like he'd need to do much more than do a surprise bat attack to get a feud going.
Sounds like we'll know sooner rather than later, weeks rather than months.

So are we gonna see this again? www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJOp6OO-cG4I would just love for Triple H to walk through the doors at WWE HQ proclaiming: "I am the one who has signed Sting! YEAH!!" Just for it to be this Sting BTW who owns the rights to the Sting character? I know that guy used the nWo Sting character for a while in Japan. Was "Regular Sting" ok with it? Live/Dead Indicator LIVE I'm fine if Sting never actually wrestles for WWE but I hope he signs a Legends deal at some point. Imagine what he could do for programming on the WWE Network, for example. And personally speaking, I would kill for a Sting DVD set. Preferably with a documentary, but at this point I would settle for a collection of matches like the Savage set.

Yes that's right, Sting has signed with WWE. The Police are performing at Wrestlemania XXX!!! I think this reference is RIGHT in Vince's current timeframe.

I'd be fine with Sting just signing a legends deal, get him into WWE 2k15 perhaps, but I'd be even more stoked if he did at least a year wrestling like Goldberg did. Book Sting vs CM Punk at Payback in Chicago and I'd flip my lid.

I'm ok with him debuting at Mania rather than wrestling at WMXXX. At first I wasn't but then I pictured Taker beating Lesnar, doing the thing where he drops down to one knee with his arm raised in the air as his music plays and smoke fills the arena when suddenly this theme starts playing (but with the kid monologue at the beginning) camera looks up to show sting standing in the rafter with a big ass crow and black baseball bat, and then he points bat at taker. yea i can live with that

I will be incredibly disappointed with a childhood and current hero of mine, if he does not live in the gym and sleep in a tanning bed for the next three months. When he signed with TNA in 05 he was A fluffy, balding version of his old self. Then the angle for BFG 06 happened. Dude he looked incredible for a while. The guy knows what to do and Vince will likely be tactful in his request that Sting present himself well.
I always hoped for it (taker v sting) never thought it would happen. I'm excited man. Big time.
