... during the Ambrose/Henry match, the crowd were going crazy chanting for CM Punk.
And then, something wonderful happened. Seth Rollins grabbed a mic and asked, "CM Who???"
He then told us how great of a champion Dean was and got the fans back into the match.
I was there live, and that was one of my favorite parts of the night that I think was probably during a commercial break.
Pretty awesome that someone acknowledged the chants, and we didn't get too loud with it again for the rest of the night. Take that, LA! Haha.

Rollins gets lost in the Ambrose/Reigns mix quite a bit. The guy isn't the flippy dude everyone seemed to paint him as when he came into the company. He's very entertaining in the ring and really has begun to come into his own on the mic. His commentary work on SD on Friday was pretty spot on if you ask me.

It's unfortunate that despite being (IMO) the best out of all 3 members, he has the bleakest future as a star. It's a shame too, since I don't even think he'll do much more than what Kofi is doing nowadays.

This is exactly why I don't understand why Ambrose gets all the love in terms of working the mic. Rollins completely swayed that crowd another way with two words, something Ambrose has never done.

I have never seen anything out of Ambrose that would warrant the amount of praise he gets. Rollins and Reigns did more in the few months they had the tag titles than the entire time that Ambrose has had the US title. You may say that it isn't a fair assessment, but it is, especially if you expect Ambrose to be a top star at some point, but he just gets lost in the mix. Also, in terms of singles matches that all 3 have had, I'd say that Rollins has done great, Reigns has done pretty good, and Ambrose is just Ambrose. I'm not trying to knock him, but any bit of criticism that he's given is explained away with "well, he's psycho!".

To be fair, Ambrose pretty much stopped tweeting after they dropped the Foley angle. While he has a nice Phoenix Splash, he was never a huge flippy guy. BUT he's changed his style A LOT. Though when The Shield breaks up, I hope Rollins starts using God's Last Gift as a finisher. Ambrose's style works best when he's by himself, and IMO Rollins works best when he's in a group. I think the biggest thing working in Ambrose's favor is he knows how to be a good chickenshit heel (at least in the indies he did) and the WWE really lacks guys who can be heels for the future. WHile Rollins has improved a lot on the mic, IMO some things still come off a little forced while Ambrose and Reigns seem more natural in their roles.

Reigns may look like the runaway favorite for now, but Wade Barrett was predicted by many to be the breakout star of The Nexus, while Daniel Bryan was somewhere near the bottom because indy guys can't possibly succeed. I personally predict all 3 do well for themselves.

When I see Seth Rollins, all I can think of is the impersonation that one of the guys from New Legacy Inc. does of Rollins... [whiny voice]"CM [rage] WHOOOOOOOOO? !!!!!"

I've said it before, Ambrose is terrible and Rollins is the better of the three and Reigns will have the better career.

Factoring in "the amount of praise someone gets" into your opinion of them is exactly and precisely holding up a big sign that says "I am letting irrelevant things color my assessment!" I'll never understand why people know that sort of thing influences them without trying to correct for it. Ambrose is also really interesting, because so many people who had never seen him just HATED him before he even joined the main roster, because his fans talked about him. It's such a weird, weird thing. And of course Ambrose gets lost in the mix with the title; the WWE assumes that midcard title holders should be over just because they have a title and not because they defend it in interesting feuds. Rollins and Reigns for a while had the Rhodes Brothers to bounce off of (literally, in Rollins's case); Ambrose has had nothing. His upcoming feud with Reigns is being built around him being a loser who needs Reigns's help to win a match. And STILL, just standing there, he's more interesting than most of the roster. So... no, it's exactly not a fair assessment.

So... no, it's exactly not a fair assessment. You're right. I shouldn't have let other people's expectations drive my own assessment. So...I'll go into things with a blank slate here and go on everything that WWE has done from debut to...whenever. So my impression during that time is...he's okay. He's nothing special in terms of wrestling and he's above average as a mic worker and there is potential there. But my initial feeling of how I would compare him to anyone of the past based just where he stands on the card (this isn't a comparison of look, wrestling style, gimmick or promo), but I'd put him at a The Brian Kendrick level, where he feels pretty middle of the road with not much in terms of a modest future. So my expectations are now based strictly on what he has done from his debut. I don't see a main eventer. But wait...let's change it up again, let's say I go back and watch his stuff as Moxley. I still get the same feeling. And no...him just standing there does nothing. I don't find anything the guy is doing that interesting. Perhaps he'll eventually change my mind, but he hasn't so far.

Rollins has gotten dramatically better as a talker since his ROH days. My fear was when he first started doing those interviews with the Shield that he'd get lost in the shuffle but he really has held his own.

Pretty cool of him although he used a generic line about Ambrose.

1 year on and we still can't seem to agree that all three members of the Shield are pretty great and could all have amazing careers as long as they aren't victims of stop-start pushes or sabotaged by backstage politics.
