To me, it begins and ends with "The Sheik of Baghdad" by Sheik Adnan AlKaissie.
Just an awesome read from him growing up in Iraq, being friends with Saddam Hussein, being the Hulk Hogan of Iraqi wrestling, all the way to living in small hotels during his stay as an AWA manager, and of course his role as Slaughter's manager during the Iraqi war.
The only book I wasn't able to put down when I first got it....I'd highly recommend this book for the great storytelling.

Bobby Heenan's two books are pretty good. I liked his first one better because there was more humor involved and he had some funny stories. His second one wasn't as light-hearted because a good portion of the book involved his battle with cancer.
William Regal's book is another one I recommend because he is very honest about some of his personal demons. He also has some funny stories about his early days in the business.

I saw the DDP book on the avoid list and it's really not that bad from what I remember but it's been awhile. I remember Foley mentioning in one of his books that they filtered DDP's book with the **** method, which gets annoying fast.

Thanks for the huge list. I'm kind of limited right by what I can find on the iBooks store, and we only have one bookstore in town and I'm too damn lazy to order one and don't do any kind of on-line shopping for stuff like that. Public Library

I just finished Gary Michael Cappetta's Body Slams and enjoyed it, but Im a WCW 87-97 guy, so there was a lot for me. I really thought it was intelligent, and his critiques of Vince, Eric, Verne, Turner, and others was pretty good honest stuff. The best story had to be about Mark Callaway confronting Buzz Sawyer in the WCW locker room in early 1990.

The best story had to be about Mark Callaway confronting Buzz Sawyer in the WCW locker room in early 1990. I attended a book signing speech he did in 2002. I believe he spoke for about an hour, and he had everyone on the edge of their seats telling various stories from his years in wrestling. He did a q & a session and also gave out forms for fans to ask questions and receive an email response. It seems Gary just disappeared from the wrestling scene after early 1995. Hopefully he's having success in his life but I think the wrestling world needs a guy who can announce a basic match and make it seem like a main event (anywhere in the country).

According to his website, Thumbtack Jack wrote an autobiography. As of today, his site claims that the work is "still" being translated into English, and that the English edition is expected to be available as of 2012. Given that it's 2014, I suspect that the translated edition has not yet been published, or that TJ's website has not been updated to indicate that the English translation is complete. Anyway, that book might be worth a read.

Are there any plans for Meltzer to ever put together a Tributes 3?

The Death Of WCW and Hardcore History: The Extremely Unauthorized Story Of ECW are my two favorites. I have read each at least 3 times.

Wrestlers are Like Seagulls by JJ Dillon was really good. He has some pretty good Dusty stories in there. How much of the book covers his time in the WWF working alongside Vince? If he put out a book just about his WWF experience I'd buy it, but otherwise I'm not really interested.

I don't understand the love for this book. It was like pulling off a fingernail getting through it, especially once the Kat pining started.

The stuff about Memphis was excellent, but i could do without all the details about his sex life or his relationship with the kat. I also wanted more details on the USWA/WWF crossovers, paticularly the 1993 one with heel vince, bret, owen, and tatanka.

We need to just do a "all purpose wrestling book" thread and sticky/pin it up at the top of this forum.

He even gives the real story as to why Flair and Hogan were taken off as the man event from WrestleMania VIII.

Is Hardcore History better than the Rise & Fall of ECW DVD: The Book! ? Yes, about a thousand times better. It goes much more in depth and gives a more unbiased look at ECW, as opposed to a WWE revisionist version. Also, if you get the updated version, it goes into detail about the ECW revival up to and including December To Dismember, focusing on the backstage battles between Vince and Heyman.

Did Barry Horowitz ever put his book out? He talked about that at a convention a few years ago. As for my recommendations:
Headlock by Joyce Sweeney - a fictional book about a high-school kid trying to break into wrestling. It's well-written and well-researched.
Flair's book was good.
Foley's books are all good.
So You Want To Be A Wrestling Promoter was really interesting to me. It gave an often untold view of the business from an indy promoter's experiences.
DDP's and Bischoff's books I'd avoid. DDP's was just annoying after a bit, and Bischoff's, though interesting in places, wasn't honest enough to be as interesting as it could've been.
I lost Triple H's workout book before I could finish it, but that looked like it had a few good stories too in-between the workout recommendations.
