Wrestling fans are way less pedantic than movie people, when it comes to things like edits and changes.

Different people have different standards. You don't need to be condescending about the fact that you don't. Genuinely wasn't being condescending. No idea how you picked that up. "Pedantic." It comes across as one of them hoity-toity words that the smrt people levy against the dum ones. ;p As for your original comment, I think it bothers people when something they grew up with as a kid is now changed as an adult. Especially when you know the reasons behind it. I mean, imagine if they changed music or blurred out a certain unoffensive symbol in a Disney movie you loved, or if some guy's voice in an old TV show you watch every week was dubbed over in the DVD release and you knew it wasn't the guy's voice. Speaking personally, I'm a guy who gets ticked off when the windshield wiper misses a certain spot, even if it isn't right in my line of driving sight (though it tends to be, dammit). So the Attitude Era WWF logo blurs and the music changes get to me.

Followed closely by the redubbing of Gary Michael Cappetta. Other than that, I really don't mind the edits and changes. The well done ones, like Hogan saying WWE, actually impressed me with how well they were done.

The Hogan WWE one was so subtle that while I didn't notice at first I was caught off-guard by hearing it. This edit I also like was when they dubbed Booker T's "n" word promo on Hogan, by dubbing in "Sucka" at the end of it. It ruined a great moment but it was so well done that I was too impressed to care.

It is better on later WCW shows as WWE is able to dub over music without losing Cappetta.

It's not a bad thing, which is probably why pedantic was the wrong word to pick but for me personally I just don't see it as a big deal.

Oh man, "precise" totally works, as it seems to address more issues than just the ones at hand. I am precise about my windshield wipers. Yeah. That works.

When they released that show (Spring Stampede 1997) on VHS, I'm fairly sure they dubbed in "sucka". It's possible WWE aired WCW's home video edit. I know that on Classics On Demand, WWE aired Starrcade 1997, but it was the home video version where WCW sped up the footage of Nick Patrick's 3-count during Hogan/Sting so that it looked fast.

Whenever I hear "W-W-(Mute)" I always laugh because to me it sounds like they're censoring someone say "W-W-F***". I also love when footage of Vince McMahon sitting in front of a WWF "scratch logo" banner gets blurred, because it gives Vince this heavenly look. Just kind of funny that this guy who many people consider to the devil looking so angelic.

Well, similar to Jesse Ventura, there was a legal holdup with Cappetta's voice. So they had to dub someone else over him because they couldn't legally use him.

The tapes of some old WCW shows have the entrance music and Cappetta's ring announcing on the same audio channel, so if WWE dubs in new music, it covers up Cappetta's voice. So that there would be an introduction for the wrestlers when music is changed, WWE would add in a new announcer. Cappetta's voice is always the one heard when the original music is left intact or if the wrestler did not have music. What's funny is that WWE aired WCW shows on Classics On Demand where one wrestler's music was changed but his opponent's was not. This would cause the wrestler with the original music to be introduced by Cappetta while his opponent with the dubbed-in theme would be introduced by the fake announcer.

I think that on a lot of the older, previous released material (e.g PPVs) that WWE blurred out/bleeped the master copies hence why even now when bleeping and blurring isn't necessary, you sometimes see it.

They've released plenty of unblurred footage on DVD/Blu since the agreement. The WM re-releases were just lazy.

Wonder what they did when Vince said the same to John Cena on (forget the show)...
