I didn't see the fight, but if McMann wasn't defending herself, the ref made the right call. You can't let someone who isn't defending themselves to continue to fight and take a beating. Same here.

Early stoppage

Early stoppage She is clutching her stomach after a knee, keeping herself up with an arm, and not defending herself, so I can kind of see the ref's reasoning. At that point he could be thinking McMann has a broken rib, and isn't defending herself, I can't let it continue.

It's a legit stoppage, it just looks sketchy because Ronda knows that she's hurt and didn't completely unload on her which Herb probably would have had to break up with a tackle.

But again, earlier worse was happening to the guy that Pyle was beating the shit out of and Dean just sits back and does nothing.
The dude is inconsistent as all hell with how he handles fights. That clearly comes as a response with how much heat he got for the way he handled the JDS/Cain fight. He's allowed that to get to him and has made him question what the right decision is. That's not a good look for him or for the sport as a whole.

Early stoppage It's a fine stoppage. Rousey doesn't even try to connect those last couple of punches when she clearly could have. She knows McMann is done. Of course, if that was Miesha Tate instead of McMann...well....Miesha probably wouldn't have been so fortunate. Herb's problem is his inconsistency. It's a no-win situation really for any MMA ref. Let a fight go on too long like JDS-Cain III and people are pissed in concern for JDS's long-term health (valid), but end a fight in just over a minute, and people are asking for refunds (those 2 main fights for 60 bucks, also valid). The one ref I always liked was Josh Rosenthal, but he was too busy being the Tony Montana of weed apparently. Please sign Cristiane Santos, UFC.

I think Cyborg is the only woman that can beat Rousey at this point.
My question then is if the UFC signs her and Ronda beats her as convincingly as she has done everyone else, then what?
She might as well call it a career and move on to Hollywood because the depth of Women's MMA isn't good enough to keep making fights people want to see with her.

My question then is if the UFC signs her and Ronda beats her as convincingly as she has done everyone else, then what? Sign Holly Holm and have Rousey vs Holm. Or throw a shitload of money at Gina Carano to come out of retirement for 1 fight, and drop to 135. Yeah, Carano would get destroyed, but it would be a big money fight. People will want to see it.

She might as well call it a career and move on to Hollywood because the depth of Women's MMA isn't good enough to keep making fights people want to see with her. Ronda's already doing that because I think she knowns that. Rousey has the looks thing and the smack talking arrogance on her side that helps sell, but that only goes so far. Guys lusting after her looks will always tune in, but those looking for her to get her mouth shut aren't. After your first couple of MMA fights, were she could lose and instead, ends of easily beating her opponents, the luster wears off. The only other fighters, as others have said, is Cyborg or Carano, and I don't see either of them happening, especially the latter.

Herb stopped the main event at the right moment. No complaints there, however he was late really late in the Pyle fight.
Nice card, enjoyed everything from prelims on.

Or throw a shitload of money at Gina Carano to come out of retirement for 1 fight, and drop to 135. Carano hasn't weighed 135 since she was 12. Not really a message to anyone on this board, but a lot of places I see people yelling "Early stoppage! Look how long Herb Dean let the Mike Pyle fight go on!" Can no one make the jump in logic that Dean realized his mistake in the 1st fight and was determined to not let another fighter take a beating like that? As soon as McMann dropped and didn't defend Herb stopped it. Do people really think MMA fighters need to be beaten into unconsciousness for the fight to end, or every time one gets put in a bad spot they should be given another minute to see where it goes? Is it maybe a LOT of people dislike Ronda and feel she was gifted a win? I can understand people being upset about wasting $60, but to try and 2nd guess the results is just futile.
