Hm. This seems almost two decades too late.
But hey, books for a new generation maybe, if reading is still a thing for the grade school youth these days.

How will they recreate the chapter cliffhangers in movie form? You know, the ones that go something like:
"Suddenly, a giant fanged monster leapt out of the dark closet and landed on my chest. It brought its fangs down towards my neck and prepared to bite down. Hot breath fogged my glasses and saliva dripped down on my face, burning my skin."
NEXT CHAPTER
"I realized it wasn't a fanged monster at all, but instead was my stuffed teddy bear!"

I wonder if this will be anything like those awful Tales From the Crypt movies?

This sounds like it will be a lot of fun.
The plot sounds like we'll get loads of appearances of Goosebumps villains like Slappy, the Monster Blood, the Beasts from the East etc which would be awesome.
I hope it's really over-the-top, campy and ridiculous. Just like the books.

It'll definitely be a nostalgia trip for some of us (like yours truly), so I support this and I agree the plot seems fun and the two lead actors might make it amusing enough.

What's next an Animorphs movie? Don't tease me. I would love for an Animorphs movie. Hell a properly done TV series.

Bit of a weird casting choice. Who looked at this guy And thought "Jack Black would be the perfect actor to play him!"?

I probably won't see it in theaters but I may give it a watch for a nostalgia bomb if word of mouth is good. Bit of a weird casting choice. Who looked at this guy And thought "Jack Black would be the perfect actor to play him!"? Hey he looks nearly identical!

I don't see why they just don't cast R.L. Stine
Also....Idk what he looks like, but Rick Moranis would be a great choice...I wish he'd act again.

Loved reading the books as a kid. In fact, if I had them readily available I wouldn't mind revisiting a the series a little. After all since they're so short you can get through them in a day.
However, after reading that it would star Jack Black (not the biggest fan) and the plot it doesn't sound that promising. It would have been cooler as an anthology story with Stein hosting (or if need be an actor who can potray Stein possibly as a Cryptkeeper kind of character).

I wonder if this will be anything like those awful Tales From the Crypt movies? Hey now! Demon Knight had William Sadler and Billy Zane. And The Zane was at peak Zaniest. Plus the hilarity that adding terrible green screen legs to the Cryptkeeper brings. On topic, I like Jack Black but I kinda wish it was an anthology film.
