So yeah, been out a couple of days in the states, came out over here today and I picked it up, lives up to the standard of the previous one! I felt like I'd gotten decently far, beating the Last Giant, Old Dragonslayer, Dragonrider and the Pursuer, but it turns out I've barely scratched the surface!
I've been playing more co-operative this time though. In the last two, I'd always go lone wolf, not wanting too much help. This time though, I needed it on the Old Dragonslayer, and after that I decided it might be a good idea on the Pursuer and beat him on the first go! Quick hint on him, get someone to distract him by the door, then get someone else (I had two phantoms, made it much easier) to fire the Ballistas at the other end at him, can take off his health so quickly.
Also, fall into the room after him for some pretty sick gear. I look like a Sith lord!
Anyway, discuss your experiences/vent your frustrations here! And feel free to use it as a place to ask for help from other people. I assume it's the same "You can help/invade people within 10 levels +10% of your current one", so I'm sure we'll figure something out!

Thus far I'm having a lot of fun. It's noticeably easier than Dark Souls I currently. I don't play online, so I'm soloing it. I've defeated Last Giant, Old Dragonslayer, Dragonrider, the Flexile sentry, and whatever the Four Sentries at once boss is called.
A lot of fun, thus far. Probably stopping today.
I have not fought the Pursurer more than a couple of times, he's a beast one-on-one. I could probably beat him now if I went back,t hough...
My hint is use Pharos' Mechanisms(sp?) properly.

I'm JDviant on PS3, currently at the Warf area if anyone wants to add me on PSN! Enjoying this so far butsumon signs disapear so quickly at this stage ^_^ They totally do. When I was trying to summon someone for the Dragonslayer, they kept disappearing before I could even walk over to them! I pretty much got lucky with two appearing next to me. I think I'm gonna try and start helping people with bosses for the extra souls so I can overlevel myself like in the last game. I finished the first Dark Souls at something like level 90 because I'd been helping folks with Ornstein and Smaugh for ages after I myself had trouble with them. Also, because I got a really awesome Claymore from the room after the Pursuer with the armour, but I need a like, 10 points more strength to use it. At least I've got enough to use the shield, which has 100% damage reduction. That and the armour feel kinda overpowered at the moment! Also, I think I'm a level 27-ish at the moment? I tried the Flexile Sentry earlier, but by the time I got there, I'd had my arse kicked by the weird spider enemies, didn't realise you could ignite the torch thing to keep them indoors. Anyway, I got in, got his health down halfway and he literally bled me to death.

Sorry for the double post, but f*** the Ruin Sentinels! It's bad enough trying to rustle up a team to fight them, but they just destroyed myself and my helpers. I've heard grabbing the AI controlled one helps, I'll have to try it later.

I love it, it's my favorite in the series, but the hardest thing about it is that wonky f***ing hit detection where enemies will be a mile away and still land a hit while I can be right against them, hacking away, and they don't take any damage. I also don't like how useless shields are so I've gone through the entire game two-handing my weapon. That being said, I've been breezing right through it and I'll probably beat it today. I've just been doing PvP in the Bell Towers because fighting two people at once is fun. I like outsmarting them and OVERCOMING THE ODDS.

Just gave it another whack, he really did help, had the last two down to about a quarter of their health each and then got caught between the two of them spinning. Then I just got overwhelmed. I do decent damage to them, but he was getting like, 300 damage off one spell at one point, I feel I'll need to use him as a crutch.

Well, I beat them! Called in another dude (AI's sign wouldn't re-appear annoyingly), and we surrounded the first one and beat him down, then one of the others jumped up, so my partner went down to fight the other alone, and once you get them by themselves they're easy as hell. Just block a bunch, circle around back and whale on 'em!

I'd love to be able to fight bosses with 1-2 human helpers. That theoretically makes things a breeze.
But I suppose some people suck badly.

The problem with it is the bosses get more health in relation to how many people you summon, so sometimes I get stuck with a jabroni or two who can't/won't do jack shit and I have to fight the beefed-up bosses by myself. It was particularly bad when I was helping people out with the Ruin Sentinels and effectively had to fight them solo with all that health because one dude died immediately after the fight started and the host hid in the corner. I won, but then I was mad because I hadn't even beat them myself yet and doubted I would be able to do it again.

So I finally went back for my rematch with the Pursuer and obliterated him. I could have done it a while ago, it seems. Of the two main routes to the Lost Bastille, I enjoy the one through the No Man's Wharf the most. The Loot you get through the Forest of Fallen Giants is arguably better, though. Oh, and how about that Boss Battle at the Bell Tower? I'll not mention what it is in case some people don't want to be spoiled. I beat it my second try, but I thought it was impossible until I decided to be really, really patient.

Haven't sprung for DS2 yet, mainly because I picked up the first one cheap on Live a few months ago and hadn't gotten around to giving it a go.
But with watching a few livestreams of the game I decided to give it a go. I'm sure I'm still awful by anyone's standards, but at least I'm actually making some leveling progress whereas in Demon's Souls I spend hours playing it and shut it off in the exact same spot where I started the game... way too frustrating.
At least this game gives you options of where to go if one path proves too difficult and you can farm souls, if nothing else.
The shocking thing is how much I'm enjoying it.... I think it's cuz, most games, you go in with the expectation to do well and when you fail, you tend to rage more. But this game, you expect to die and die alot.. so when it happens, you just accept it and move on. Of course, later on in the game.... I expect a few destroyed controllers and rage quits.

I will say though, those Mummies that bellyflop/explode at you? So annoying.

I haven't had any problems with the mummies because I can kill them in one hit, even when they come at me in groups, so it stops that problem. I was using the Mojumbo sword or whatever it's called and I really like it when it works but sometimes, even when I'm locked on, my character will turn around and attack BEHIND them, which has gotten me killed more than once. Honestly, at least half of my deaths have been from glitches or weird things like that rather than actually dying like on a boss or something.
