The hate poseur nerds. It baffles me that has become an actual "thing" now.
It's not a lifestyle anymore. It's like a shirt you try on.
You can forgive the young teeny boppers that are still searching for their own identity, but there are fully grown adults flying the flag now.
Who are they trying to impress, actual nerds? Nerds are borderline OCD with their stuff. They see right through it.
Unless of course you're a reasonably attractive lady, in which case you will be tolerated until you say something unforgivable like "I think it's fine that Greedo shot first."

Why the f*** are you all posting my YouTube comments inthis thread? Wouldn't be Youtube comments without... This random band is way better than Justin Beiber. They're real musicians unlike her.

Ain't nothing wrong with understanding things like comics, video games and wrestling aren't necessarily widely accepted. If you're a forty-seven year old man that LOVES Sailor Moon then what are you if not a nerd?

It's when you imply that there's some sort "fake nerd" that you need to watch out for, and that you are a "real" nerd. Taking it as a personal slight when a guy wearing a Batman or Spiderman shirt doesn't actually read comics is ridiculously douchey. It's basically the nerd flavor of hipsters.

As with any "scene," there's fakes and elitist and yes, they are very much equally irritating. I think we've all known "that guy." You know, you both love the same stupid thing just as much but you do it wrong somehow.

Superman's my favourite Marvel character. I like how he goes all green when he gets angry and calls himself Galactus.

Does it speak more poorly or high of our subculture that the "fake wrestling fan" has not yet popped up as a concept?
"OMG i luv steve Cena an Daniel punk! Tey rockoxrrrs!" is not a sentiment often seen after all.

You have no idea how many times I've had to deal with that bullshit. Instead of trying to constantly beat their "nerd" chests and prove how legit they are, perhaps it would be better served to try an introduce those "fake" nerds to the medium and then they'll have a new understanding of that world. I don't walk up to casual wrestling fans and go "YOU DONT KNOW (insert indy wrestler) YOU'RE NOT A REAL FAN!" Fandoms are better when there's more people to enjoy them with.

Superman's my favourite Marvel character. I like how he goes all green when he gets angry and calls himself Galactus. When I saw Man of Steel last summer, there was this kid in the seat behind me who kept asking his dad about Superman being in the Avengers and teaming up with Iron Man. Once the movie was finally over I turned around, looked right at the kid and said "Superman is in the Justice League!" loud enough for the entire theater to hear. About a dozen people applauded.
