Here's a Forum Game:
I want us to book a guy who comes in as the best wrestler ever. Not a hoss, but not an "indie darling" either.
A guy who comes in, really good on the mic, laid back, not very aggressive, who is presented as having been travelling the world for a decade perfecting his craft, and states that his goal is to beat everyone currently employed by the company, starting from the bottom up. Like he has a literal checklist. On his first night he faces someone like Curt Hawkins; they try a move, and he instantly counters it into a creative pin and wins in 10 seconds.
And then just that, week after week, as a 1st hour thing. Curt Hawkins, Yoshi, Alex Riley, members of 3MB, the Conquistadores, all of these people lose in under a minute, and he's extremely friendly and good-natured about it. He doesn't have a finisher, perse; it's all counters; every move he does is either a pin, a surprise power move, or a reversal into a submission. The matches are less like pro-wrestling matches or brawls and more like chess matches, because they end so quickly that we're forced to see characters get inventive and tell stories as they struggle to find a way to beat this guy.
Eventually someone, let's say Santino, is able to hit an actual offensive flurry before they're beaten, and this leads to our guy actually busting out some crazy strikes and neckbreakers, and it's like "OH CRAP." He slowly makes his way up the card, facing heels and faces, and the Game Theory style of the matches continues, but gets more complicated as he faces tougher, crazier, less predictable competition, leading to him losing matches thanks to DQ, count out, interference, etc; he's not an unstoppable monster.
He's just presented as being the best at the "art" of prowrestling ever.
He doesn't have a match that goes over 2 minutes for his first six months in the company. Every second you're in the ring with him, it's a loaded gun. Everyone wants to see who will actually be able to pick this lock.
By the time he reaches World Title level, I think it'd be fever pitch. I thought it would be fun for FAN to book some of his matches.
