I'm 100% behind this signing.
There are so many potential matchups for him in WWE that'd blow the roof off.

the real question is how long will it take someone to make an "Artist Formerly Known as Prince Devitt" joke after he's renamed.

Prince Devitt could be the next big thing. Come on Devitt, you're too good for TNA.

Devitt would have to be an incredibly poor businessman to sign with TNA. No way in Hell he signs there. These reports are nothing but a smokescreen caused by him to raise inquiries in my opinion.

There's no f***ing WAY Devitt would leave New Japan just to go to TNA.
NO f***ing way. He's much too REEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL for that cesspool of shit.

The problem lies here - New Japan has already replaced the dude. If he doesn't go to WWE, what's left? TNA, NOAH, ROH, PWG ... so yeah, TNA.

He's currently having quite the nice little run as Devin Prince on me WWE Universe, so he's pretty much guaranteed to succeed.

First off, he'd probably make more money doing the US/UK indy circuit ala AJ Styles than going to TNA. Additionally, they left his departure from NJPW open ended, almost with a face turn. I'm sure he'd go after Bullet Club if he didn't end up signing with WWE.

Well he is good friends with a lot of the TNA roster so I can buy there being some interest. BUT if Devitt actually is leaving New Japan it's for the WWE (unless Wrestle1 gave him a huge deal to jump then TNA makes sense as well). Devitt has been the top heel there and one of their top draws... arguably only behind Tenahashi and Okada so IMO only WWE has a chance

I can not possibly fathom Devitt leaving the second biggest wrestling promotion in the world where he was supposedly hugely over in (I don't follow NJPW so I can't say for sure) to work for TNA. There's no way TNA can match the money he made in Japan, he's from Ireland so it's not like working in Florida is gonna bring him any closer to his family, and TNA is such a joke now that it's not like he can really build word of mouth from a run there. There is literally no benefit to this in the slightest.

New Japan straight up said they'd welcome Devitt back in a heartbeat if things don't work out elsewhere. Devitt's not a Richards-style douche.
As far as Devitt is concerned, he's not just one of the best high flyers in the world. To me, he's the bridge between guys guys who are great at technical wrestling, guys who are great at flying and lucha, and guys who are great characters.
Devitt's is almost literally and figuratively the second coming of Chris Jericho with an Irish accent.
His heel run towards the end of his time in New Japan was absolutely awesome sauce.
As for the question about him being a gun nut, his character is based off the movie RocknRolla, which is basically a British crime movie with lots of guns and a drugged out rock star type that Devitt was emulating.
One things for sure, Devitt is a RRRRRRRREEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL shooter.

There is literally no benefit to this in the slightest. Who really knows what drives certain people. I think that no matter what Devitt does, he'd be taking a pretty big dip in pay. The only reason I could see him going to TNA is he's friends with a lot of their roster as I mentioned (Devitt was the guy who looked after the Americans when they went over to Japan and a lot of them love him... plus he's really close with Spud and Magnus) and he could still work (semi) regularly in Japan with Wrestle-1. Plus with the yearly UK tours for TNA, there has to be some interest there. Either way though, Devitt is a guy who the WWE has been scouting for a few years, and would probably be a bigger signing than Mistico was. And with him having worked with a lot of Americans (including guys that are in or have been in WWE) I don't think the adjustment would be that big for him.

I don't know. If Devitt is playing hardball, I worry it will backfire in that WWE will lose interest.
It's coming across more that he doesn't want to sign with WWE and that's entirely understandable.

If Devitt's playing hard ball then why would he kill all the leverage he has by formally resigning from NJPW? And unless he's trying to burn his bridge with NJPW, he's not going to bounce between TNA and Wrestle-1.

Well I don't think Wrestle-1 would burn the bridge with New Japan. He wouldn't be working for All Japan anytime soon, but I don't think New Japan would care

He wouldn't be working for All Japan anytime soon, but I don't think New Japan would care Well with the state AJPW is in, NJPW would probably be more amused than anything if Devitt went there. Maybe saying he would burn a bridge is too strong. They'd take him back but he'd probably get Shibata'd. With NJPW breaking out of their slump the days of guys leaving and then coming back and getting seriously pushed are most likely over.
