No she isn't. She's just a dummy that has been entitled by her celebrity status. I highly doubt she sits around thinking about punting babies and laughing at cancer patients. She's just stupid and unfortunately has access to microphones. It goes beyond that, however. She is so arrogant that she cannot be swayed by any amount of evidence presented to her by people who are experts in the field. She does not agree with the experts so the experts must be wrong. That is a massive character flaw on her part, and she then uses her celebrity status to convince others to ignore the people who actually know what they are talking about that. That goes beyond stupid. Also, like politics or religion or sports fandom, whenever something is said that makes you question those beliefs, the natural response is to double down. Did you hear about the recent study that said when Anti-vaxxers are presented with every possible amount of scientific data disproving autism, it makes them LESS likely to vaccinate?

I'm sure Oprah had a role to play in this. She's a notorious promoter of pseudo-science. YOU GET THE MEASLES! AND YOU GET THE MEASLES! AND YOU GET THE MEASLES!

I'm still trying to figure out how the f*** hyperbaric chambers can help with autism. I thought the only use of them was for the bends and the idea that Michael Jackson used 'em to extend his life. Well, that and the belief that sleeping nude in a tent gave Homer Simpson sexual powers.
But, if Disney measles outbreak was bad, imagine Super Bowl measles. I know it's traditional media paranoia but with more and more people shunning basic innoculation, this isn't gonna be pretty.

Not to rush to her defense, but to her (slight) credit I thought she backed off on the whole "vaccinations cause autism" thing she was spouting out of her face hole. Doesn't make up for the years and years of people who listened to her misinformation or the past current and future problems related, but I do think she came out and said "yeah I f***ed up". YOU GET THE MEASLES! AND YOU GET THE MEASLES! AND YOU GET THE MEASLES! That's just too damn funny to me LOL

With Super Bowl measles, if you want a shot you've got to pay $50,000, get kicked in the nards, and there's no guarantee they'll have the shot.

So has she done anything recently that warranted the bumping of this thread?? She's a vocal member of the anti-vaccination group, because somehow vaccines cause Autism, and there's a big outbreak in the US of measles that originated at Disney theme park, and there are some parents who still refuse to give their kids the MMR vaccine, while an outbreak is going on.

At what point does her and other's "free speech" cross into "yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre" territory where their rhetoric puts the public safety at risk?

It's a little more grey when it concerns the link between autism and vaccinations. I mean to me it's pretty apparent that there's no link, but still these groups persist. The Nightly Show recent did an episode this week on vaccinations. Then again there's people who believe Ouija boards are gateways to hell.

I think it's just the preventable disease outbreaks in the last few days, and how Jenny's anti-vac stance could have influenced said outbreaks.

Pretty sure that you can't enforce her because there are religious groups that purposely don't vaccinate. Would be hypocritical to ban one group's speech and not the other.

If you ask me, any parent that refuses to vaccinate their children without a valid medical reason (allergic to an ingredient in the vaccine, too young, compromised immune system, etc.) is guilty of child abuse.

That actually probably would fall under "Child Endangerment." Parents who do that should face consequences, though. You're right on the money there.

According to her wiki article, it could very well be that McCarthy's son never actually had autism at all.
Evan's disorder began with seizures and his improvement occurred after the seizures were treated, symptoms experts have noted are more consistent with Landau–Kleffner syndrome, often misdiagnosed as autism. She has denied that her son was misdiagnosed. In a 2014 Daily Beast article, she says her son is now 12 and doing okay: "Evan’s amazing,... He doesn’t meet the diagnostic characteristics for autism. He definitely has quirks and issues from the seizures. He has a little bit of brain damage due to his seizures. He doesn’t qualify for any more services, but he does have issues in his school.

I think the most f***ed up thing about the anti-vaxxers mentality is the notion that they would rather run the risk of their children getting the measles as opposed to the "risk" of getting autism, as if to say they would rather have a dead child than an autistic one.
