Despite having become a JTTS at that point, Tito Santana actually won the King Of The Ring tournament in 1989!

If the U.S. Championship gets retired, the WWE will have the same number of Championships (4) that it had in 1995.

As a wrestler, Mean Gene Okerlund holds a 4-0 record.
Former Crockett tag champion Don Kernodle once won the weekly $10,000 prize on America's Funniest Home Videos after submitting a video of his dog.
Doink debuted during a Tatanka squash match against Dale Wolfe, aka Dusty Wolfe, who would go on to use the Doink gimmick on the independent scene.
Michael Hayes debuted as commentator Dok Hendrix on the same episode HHH's first vignette debuted.

4-0? I remember Okerlund teaming with Hulk Hogan to defeat George The Animal Steele and Mr. Fuji. What were the other matches?

He and Buff Bagwell over Kanyon and Mark Madden in WCW 2000, then over Madden by himself the following week. In 2012, he and Sheamus beat Alberto Del Rio and Daniel Bryan. Mean Gene Okerlund holds a win over Daniel Bryan. Wrestling, man.

Ivan Koloff won his only World title in 1971. Dusty Rhodes won his first World title in 1979. Here they were, IN 1988, fighting for a Championship which was meant to be a steppingstone for the World Championship!

True. But as someone who was watching JCP at the time, Dusty wasnt considered a veteran, and Uncle Ivan was still a regular on television. Heck, he was still tearing it up with the Road Warriors a year earlier. Seems odd on paper, considering the length of their careers, but at the time, no big deal. The US title was more if an in house belt, rather than the travelling title...heck, by 88 even the NWA title had lost its luster. Still....could be considered weird...maybe not obscure.

Ultimate Warrior only resigned with the WWF on April 2nd 1992, 3 days before Wrestlemania 8. I wonder how things would have ended had he not worked out a deal. I guess Hogan would have just gone over clean and done the celebratory victory alone. That would have sucked.
Miss Elizabeth and Andre The Giant earned as much and more than the main eventers for thier appearances at Summerslam 1991, Andre earned $75k (same as Hogan, Warrior and Savage) and Elizabeth earned $50k (same as Sgt Slaughter) which is more than Sid Justice's $25k
Hogan earned an extra $15k bonus, which Warrior didnt.. and the rest is history.
