I personally think HHH ripped off TNA by using Arn Anderson's time machine to see future TNA's superior story and returned to pull off the Eric Young Daniel Bryan Saga. Just to rub it in HHH had it conclude a week or so before TNA got to even show it the first time.

Personally would have liked them to wait for Sacrifice as there was enough time to build a compelling story there. At the same time, instead of trashing TNA for copying the WWE, I'll just enjoy EY winning. Whether you think he's been treated like a joke or not (he has) he's always delivered when called upon.
I will say this for the ripping off the WWE, I think it's a bit more timing than anything. Not saying they didn't as some aspects of the storylines are far to similar to be coincidence, but I don't think the EY injury was meant as a ripoff. The face gets hurt and has to wrestle later in night angle has been an angle used for years.
Again, not saying TNA didn't ripoff a lot of stuff from WWE for their current top angles (and they have done it in the past as well) but I don't think the EY thing was... at least not intentionally.

The main problem is while EY does deserve a run with the TNA title due to longevity in the company and amount of bullshit he put up with, he has been booked as a comedy wrestler who couldn't hang with the big boys. Samoa Joe merced him in less than 5 minutes a couple weeks ago. Abyss treated him like a prostitute and sent him to the hospital. He didn't get any victories that gave him credibility before tonight. His match booking tonight was way too close to what when seen just a couple of days ago. EY hurts his arm and wins a shot against Magnus. He wrestles 2 matches in one night. Magnus, who been the worst booked TNA World champion since Fail Sabin, cannot put him away after trying every dirty tactic and move in his arsenal. EY pins him clean with a piledriver mercifully killing Magnus' terrible reign but creating scrutiny because his win mirrors Daniel Bryan's minus the long journey to get there and satisfaction of the victory. If TNA's long term plan was making EY champion, they should had planned it better. Unexpected doesn't mean great.

I actually feel bad for Eric Young. While it's great that he finally won the big one after 10 years in the company, his title reign already seems doomed to fail. How is he supposed to be taken seriously as champion after basically being a comedy midcarder/jobber for most of his career, and with only a few weeks of half-assed buildup to his big victory? He needed to be built up way, way more before he became champion. I know there's not a lot of heel depth right now, but they could have at least given him a few more big wins before moving on to Magnus.
Unless they manage to book this perfectly and make him look like an actual main eventer, there's a damn good chance that Eric Young will go down as the worst world champion in TNA history. For a man that's been a company man for so long, it will be terrible if his legacy becomes Worst World Champion in TNA History.

Eric's a good guy and a good wrestler. He's been a staple for TNA for many years. Still makes this look laughably copycat. Doesn't matter if it wasn't even intended that way - pardon my skepticism there - that's the way it looks. That's why you got 2 sides of this discussion. Those who are happy for EY not matter the circumstances surrounding the buildup and match itself. And those who like EY but got to call a spade a spade. Maybe EY will have a long title reign to usher in a new age for TNA. Maybe he'll have a run that make Chris Sabin's reign look like Bobby Roode's in comparison. But last night started it off in a bad place. TNA got a lot of work to do to make it better.

Sort of joking and sort of serious question, If Eric Young didn't have a beard, would we even be having this thread right now? According to the board Abyss is a Corporate Kane rip-off for Magnus getting him to wear a suit for a minute so Eric having a beard makes him Bryant 2.0. That said, EY being a short, sometimes-comedic underdog type ala Bryant( along with the beard) just comes-off too hinky. But if this really goes somewhere and EY finally gets his shot to run with the ball it will be all worth it. Don't want to see him back in the midcard in a few months. My guess is he feuds with a bitter Samoa Joe now.

Now TNA will try to convince the fans to pay $45 to watch Magnus (weakest heel champion ever) try to regain the title. Good luck with that.

I've got to say I am now imagining commercials in that vein and it's making me laugh my ass off.. *super serious deep voice announcer*: "Can the worst Champion in Impact Wrestling history regain the TNA World Championship from a comedy midcarder? Order Sacrifice and find out when Magnus faces off against Eric Young!" edit: I guess I will say that I like Eric Young as a wrestler... hell when he was the head of the World Elite I could have seen him as the top heel champion. but it's been a loooong time since World Elite and he's been treated way too much of a joke for us to suddenly take him seriously as the champion without any kind of build. That said TNA can potentially salvage this angle but at the moment it doesn't really look good.

I'm actually OK with EY being champ, but he basically went from being no where on the radar to World Champ in short order. Also, the parallel's between WWE/TNA's build with it are similar. TNA didn't out right rip off WWE, but I can easily imagine someone going, "OK, this worked pretty well for WWE, what can we do that's similar?" Its a very common business practice, but still painfully transparent for TNA. That being said, if they did something completely different and original with EY's title win, I think people would be much more behind it. There are a zillion different ways to write something like this and they happened to pick one that ghosts WWE?

Sorry, but ripping off the WWE happens too much in TNA to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Recently alone they've given us:
The Winter of Styles Corporate Abyss Beardyman wins 2 matches in one night and becomes champion.
Thats just in the last 6 or so months.

I'm really happy for EY, I posted in the Impact thread that there was a good story in him rising from a "joke" to the TNA champ. But that's just it, I said story. Stories have a beginning, middle, and end. It barely begun, there wasn't a middle, so the end didn't feel right. When he won I jumped up and said "yeah!" ya know, but seconds later, emptiness. It takes a special kind of bad storytelling to give me an outcome I want, but still feels like a disappointment. Storyline pacing has been so bad for this company for years now.

If you want to count the time when TNA had the NWA championship....Rhino and Abyss reign are probably much worse then Sabin.

It's such a blatant ripoff that at this point I don't think they're even trying. I'll bet they're testing fan loyalty to see who'd watch this and not care about the similarities to a huge event that just took place the Sunday prior.

Which made the NWA, who will give you a run with the title for $400 and a Big Mac value meal, reevaluate their business relationship with TNA and cancel their deal.

Because they have no clue what else to do besides rip off WWE. For the 16th time.

Heck they should have turned Austin Aeries face and had him feud over the title, where has Aeries gone anyway. Like I have said congrats to Eric Young but the timing is highly suspect and the way it was done as well.
