I like how every time a "who should be released" thread starts up, every list is always filled with jobbers. Guys, the WWE needs these jobbers. You need the Yoshi Tatsus and Curt Hawkins of the world to put people over. They should be looking into dropping upper card guys who they've given pushes to but who just always fizzle out. Thing is, the jobbers tend to be the ones to go, as they've used up all their credibility. The upper and midcard guys whose pushes have fizzled out then settle into the jobber roles so their credibility can be used to put over the new talent. Rinse and repeat.

Attention workers, we have completed our evaluation of the roster. We regret to announce the following lay-offs, which I will read in alphabetical order:
Del Rio, Alberto.
That is all.

Haha what? Why would you fire the best announcer in the company?

here's my list:
Miz - media work or no, the guy is treading water and doesn't seem motivated anymore. he needs to seriously re-invent himself and needs time away. Kofi - sits around in the midcard, peaked years ago and is just taking up a spot that could be better used by someone else Curtis Axel - see Kofi Sheamus - controversial, I know, but I defy you to name another main event level talent whose spinning in his wheels as much as Sheamus is. during his time away his spot got grabbed by a bunch of other guys who are just plain better than he is. he feels like the Appendix of WWE, you could take him out and nobody would notice the difference Ziggler - not for the same reason as others, though. Ziggler's a personal favorite but he's crowded out by the WWE's far-too-top-heavy main event scene. he'd do well to go to Japan and come back in a couple years when there's a spot for him. that way he doesn't lose his credibility by continuing to be a JTTS like he is now. Christian - he's also a personal favorite but with his injury problems it might be time for him to wind down. Big Show - a big blubbering pile of useless who blew what little was left of his credibility years ago. I'm sure he's a nice guy but is that really any reason for him to take up the same boring Jobber Main Eventer role he's in these days? Mark Henry - once again, I'm a fan, but with his injury issues I think making him a part timer who comes back for a bit to put someone over like what Chris Jericho does is the right place for him. Rey - should've been forced to retire years ago. I think he's in a "wait out his contract and then don't re-sign him" position but he reminds me of Kurt Angle where he won't take the hint and will just go work in either TNA or Mexico and cripple himself. Khali - I know WHY they keep him but at this point it just seems almost abusive to have this half-crippled man go out there. RVD - he just feels superfluous. he doesn't need the money, either. Alberto Del Rio - in ten years he'll be remembered as the quintessential example of pushing a guy long after the audience stopped caring. probably one of the most forgettable main eventers in recent memory. Jack Swagger - the only former WHC more forgettable than Del Rio. teaming with Cesaro breathed new life into him but I just don't see him as having much upside now that he's alone again. there are other guys who could fill his "decent wrestling midcard heel" act a lot better. the following Divas: Eva Marie, the Bella Twins, Aksana, Cameron - none of them add anything to the product and their matches are piss breaks. it doesn't help that developmental has girls who are just so much better who'll overshadow them. tv spot or no, they're all replaceable. Santino - largely because his schtick is stale, he's dragging Emma down with him and there are other guys on both the main roster and in NXT who do the "goofball" schtick a lot better whilst still coming off as more credible.
it's interesting to note that we're seeing a big sea-change in developmental. the people coming up now are just so much better trained and experienced than the guys who were getting called up during the OVW era. those guys from OVW who all failed to get over just look worse in comparison and feel like they're only on the card because they have been for a long time. I think we may be on the verge of another roster purge like we got when the Rock n Wrestling era switched to the New Generation era, only this time it's a good thing. we need to distance the product from its remaining Attitude Era holdovers and Johnny Ace's talent searching and OVW developmental territory era blunders.

I hate to see anyone lose their job,but it is interesting to see who people would cut. I don't dislike anyone enough to want them gone. I wish they could send out the guys they don't use to little independent wrestling shows to wrestle their champs or whatever. Or even have a little tour of smaller towns/cities with cheap tickets, autograph sessions,etc..Not cost-effective,but it would be neat to me.

Hornswoggle, because I hate him, and El Torito fills the midget quota.

I wouldn't shed a tear if I read the Great Khali was let go by the company.
I've never cared for the 7ft unstoppable monster character, I wouldn't be in the slightest bit upset to never see that character again.

I always thought that someone like Booker T or Carlos Colon wouldn't mind taking on a few of the unused guys for their promotions.

Alberto Del Rio. What is his purpose? To keep the majority of boring chants off Orton.

Obviously a jobber or two has to be released once in a while, since they're clearly not moving up and there has to be some sort of eventual cutoff point for the people on the bottom. Like some others have said though, I think the WWE needs to cut some of the used-up guys a bit higher on the pole, like Show or Rey.
Rey's a particularly sad case. It sucks seeing probably the most famous luchadore ever job to Wade Barret on free TV, but it sucks even more knowing that, with his current skillset, he deserves to lose to Wade. It's sad, and I'm not fond of seeing it continue.
