Lately there has been a rash of people not only ignoring the rules but multiple warnings in both public and private from the staff. This cannot and will not continue. We want this to be a fun place to openly discuss multiple topics and issues but we cannot have the rules and our enforcement of them being ignored. People are finding themselves warned, suspended and even banned because of that and there is no reason for it to happen. With that said, there are a few things I want to cover to cut down on the craziness:
Please take the time to check out The Rules for what should at least be a second time. If you have questions or concerns you can PM one of us or use the AskAMod thread that is pinned at the top of Off Topic.
Thank you.
- A topic or post upsetting you, even angering you does not give you the right to attack or troll anyone. If you think a thread or post is breaking the rules, report it and let the staff figure it out. Not everything you find distasteful or that you hate is against the rules but your reaction to it could be and that could get you warned, suspended or even banned.
- Argue the post, not the poster. If someone says something you don't like, you disagree with or is just factually wrong, have fun completely deconstructing the post. Do not however go after the poster for that opinion.
- Reporting things to the staff is ALWAYS helpful. Always. Seriously, we cannot stress this enough. Reports make things easier on all of us. This lets us know of things that are breaking the rules, things that need to be watched, issues that we need to determine how to handle and so on. No one but the staff will know that you reported something so don't worry about anyone targeting you because of this. We do not see everything. I know that is a shock to some but a lot of us coming into threads to calm things down or take care of other issues is thanks to someone taking the time to report it.
Just to make sure you know how to do this, on each post there is a gear icon that when clicked gives you a drop down menu. The third option is “Report Post”, click on that and a box will pop up giving you 256 characters to tell us why you feel this is a problem. Be sure to click “Report Post” in this box or we will never see it. - No more overly sexual content. Talking about finding someone attractive is perfectly fine, we all have different tastes and desires. However no one needs to know about you wanting to wear someone as a mustache, whatever other fantasies you conjure up in your private time or what you are doing in that private time. Not only has this always been against the rules but it makes you look bad.
