I remember about a week after Warrior won the WWF title, he celebrated in the ring briefly on an episode of Superstars of Wrestling with both belts in hand. So I was wondering if he made any sort of IC Title defense before the IC Belt was vacated/stripped. Also, how many appearances post-Wrestlemania 6 did he make with both belts?
Edit: just found the Superstars of Wrestling episode on youtube. He did come out to the ring to celebrate but didn't have the IC Belt with him, only the WWF Title.

History of WWE makes no mention of appearances with both belts. the next set of TV tapings were done with Warrior as World champ.

It's kind of an odd post match thing. Title for Title!!!! Then it turns out, you can't actually legally hold both titles in WWF, so whoever won was gonna surrender the IC title anyway. Rather than invent a new rule, they really should have had a better out, though I can't think of one at the moment.

I don't think there was ever really a rule that they couldn't hold both... as I'm sure they did it at least once at one point. But I'm assuming they didn't want a midcarder to beat their new World Champion... which makes sense.

Even when I was an 11 year old mark and had no inside scoops, I knew Warrior would win cause what the hell would Hogan do with the IC title?

I always thought that was a given in wrestling, as everyone who won one title always vacated the other (see: Midnight Express and Steiners dropping the US tags when the won the World).

I believe it has always been a rule-I forget who, but I'm thinking it was either Bruno or Pedro won a tag title match while he was world champ and immediately the decision was overturned and the team that lost got the belts back, since you cannot hold more than one belt at a time.

Ah, I don't remember that being a rule... but I'm pretty positive they did change it at one point.

Pedro and Backlund won the tag titles at Showdown at Shea against Afa and Sika.

It wasn't overturned. I believe Backlund & Pedro are still recognized as former tag champs, but they did immediately have to vacate the tag titles because Backlund was World Champ. The Samoans got their titles back by winning a tournament. I'm pretty sure it was only the world champ that couldn't hold more than one title, since his was the supreme title.

If Hogan had won, most likely the I-C title would've been vacated.
