So anyone seen this movie? I have seen this movie, it had a great Madonna song in it "Causing A Commotion" though it is not in the class of her earlier hits like "Boarderline", "Lucky Star", "Dress You Up", "Into The Groove", and an okay song the title song, but the movie is so bad, it is good, it is fun to watch and make fun of it, it is a comedy, but the funny part is how bad it is. It would make for a good episode of MS3000.
Personally I am disappointed that people like Nostalgia Critic haven't review it yet. It would be a great review for any of the popular Blip and YT reviewers.

I never saw the film but I'm a fan of Madonna's 80s stuff and I can't stand either of the two hits she had from this film. Such a shame it came between True Blue and Like a Prayer as it ruined her having three great albums in a row (even if it's an OST rather than a Madonna album).

I thought that was a great movie, granted not change the world win an oscar great, but I thought that was a great little romantic comedy with a bit of a time capsule of the east village was like in the mid 80's. I differ on "Causing A Commotion", I don't think it is that bad, much better than any other song on that soundtrack. On the topic of the Who's That Girl movie I do think the situation with the male lead (who had the same name as the lead character in Vision Quest) and his snobby finance, who was more of a slut than she appeared, was kind of ripoff of the situation with Lewis Winthrod and his snobby finance in Trading Places, but I don't hold that against them. Just poining it out.

The song she did for WTG compliments TB quite nicely to me. It feels like an EP add-on to it. Causing A Commotion is my jam too.

Well off topic, I do fell TB is very underrated albume, it is a great bridge between LAV and LAP, two different eras for sure. And it has its own little style. It is not as poppy as the early stuff, but not as serious as LAP and more fun than the griddiness of LAP.

TB is consider to be THE Madonna album with LAP, LAV, and ROL following behind it. Though LAP (song) is consider to be the best Madonna song.

I don't mind Madonna in films when she plays a supporting role, I'm just not keen on her being the lead role.

Saw this thread title, immediately several voices in my head sang, "It's Jess." No shame.

Well in the case of Desparately Seeking Susan, Madonna was more of than just being herself. It is like she didn't have to act, the role was so natural for her at the time. Madonna clearly had fun making that movie. See defentely felt comfortable in that role, more so than Prince did as the Kid in Purple Rain. I do have the CD single for "Into The Groove", the only place the original version is available.

I watched it when I was a kid... I like the songs better than the movie but of course, my favorite Madonna film will always be Dick Tracy. Thinking about it, I can't remember much about Who's That Girl now. I remember her look, Griffin Dunne, there was a taxi and I want to say a Leopard... But I could not tell you anything about how all of those things connect.

Into The Groove was on the 1985 rerelease of Like A Virgin, You Can Dance, and The Immaculate Collection. I highly recommend you get You Can Dance for the longer dance version of it and the dub version.

The only two movies I thought Madge acted well in were Evita and Dick Tracy, and that may have been because she had talent like Pacino and Beatty and Banderas to help carry her load. Causing A Commotion kicks ass though.
