I never saw MVP as a potential main eventer but I liked Kennedy. WWE did a really bad job of introducing/building new stars around 2005-2010. A lot of wasted potential from those years. Part of that was changing demand for what kind of stars could get to the top. Halfway through that time period - the time when WWE likely began seriously thinking about bringing someone up to that Cena/Batista/Orton level - they tightened their standards on steroids and health, which completely destroyed some of the guys they were building up (Lashley comes to mind). So I think it reasonable to say that they had a period where their plans for building new guys were seriously derailed, leading to a few years of complacency with the guys who were already working on top.

All I think about when I think about Mr Kennedy is Regal legit beating the complete and utter piss out of him when he'd just returned as a smartass, cocky, cool face. Then I do a little chuckle to myself. Didn't really think much of the guy.

I highly doubt Mt. Kennedy was supposed to be the future of the WWE. That depends on what newz you believe, given that that rumours at the time were circulating that he was going to turn out to be Mr. McMahon's son. And if they truly were going to book that angle, had it happened, that shit doesn't just wash off.

Even though I do enjoy his work in TNA, I would welcome a MVP return to WWE, Kennedy not so much, I never so what was so good about him, imo Miz is Kennedy done better and without the injuries.

Never did like Lashley's in-ring work & like you said he was lacking charisma and bad on the mic. BTW, is he still in TNA?

Bingo. There are a LOT of reasons there was a "status quo" for that time period outside of them being artistically/creatively stubborn.

I think many moons ago when the IC title meant something Kennedy could have been great in that role. He's everything I thought an old school IC champ could be. But wrong place/ wrong time and he was just another cog in the machine, but with wellness and injury problems to boot.
I really liked MVP the performer. I think the gimmick didn't suit him at all. When I think of the MVP character I'm thinking someone who looks more like Titus ONeal.

I think Kennedy is much better than the Miz. Better look & better on the mic. Miz should never have been in the main event scene. And it obviously failed since he's basically a jobber to the stars now.

I never saw what anyone saw in ether of them...
On the other hand, I assumed JoMo and Dolph would be WWE Champions by now

I never saw what anyone saw in ether of them... On the other hand, I assumed JoMo and Dolph would be WWE Champions by now Morrison was terrible on the mic though, so he was only going to go so far. And Ziggler is in a bad position because there's too many other guys that WWE are backing instead of him like all 3 members of The Shield, Cesaro, Wyatt, Bryan, etc. His chances of becoming a main eventer now are very slim due to that, and there only being 1 World Title now doesn't help at all.

At the time, I figured he would end winning the title without needing to use the mic that much. He was the winner of Tough Enough. With the right hype videos he doesn't even need to talk. Show him training, which would wow the casual fan, and it works just fine. I still think they missed the boat on at least *trying* to make a star on a B-level show. He could have ended the Miz's reign at Extreme Rules instead of Cena with the right hype. That feud rights itself. Also, it wouldn't have been a historical eye sore because I just had to look up how Miz lost.
I agree that was not good on the stick though.
