that some up and coming guy should have, say the same thing about Undertaker retiring HBK and HBK retiring Flair?
I wasn't on the IWC during those matches so I was wondering if there was negativity towards that said.

If people say that, they're wrong.
Brock shouldn't have beaten Undertaker.

I still think no one should have and they've written themselves into a corner because anything but, "Lesnar wins the title and crushes everyone until it's time for him to retire," is a step down, and would be regardless of who did it since nothing can compare.

Everyone knows that Kane should've retired Flair.

Now I'm firmly in the camp that they shouldn't have ended the streak. But if they had to, then Brock was the right pick. Big enough name, believable enough ability.
You don't give the streak to anyone that isn't absolute top level.

This year with Taker there were at least like...arguments that could be made for some up and coming stars. Whatever you think of WWE right now, they're clearing elevating some guys. I don't agree with any of them, but there were people I could see guys wanting to beat Taker.
2008 in hindsight feels like it had nobody. Just like, a total absence of anyone new and exciting on the horizon.

Brock is an established legit badass and he's still young by wrestling standards. He can dominate for another 10 years if he wanted. I'm cool with this over someone like Big E doing it, goes on to do not much else, and is released in 2 years.

A young up and comer retiring Flair in 08 would've been Kennedy or MVP. Guess TNA would've benefited.

You know who else has a big Accolade? (Also, I love Rusev's face in this picture. He looks like he just spotted some fruit off in the distance and he's super excited to go crush it.)

I had that thought, but realized that anyone who beat the streak would basically be an afterthought to the idea that the Streak is over. (Which, thank goodness they finally ended this overplayed angle).
Brock beat him fair and square and the LOSER of the match gets a standing ovation at Wrestlemania. What did the winner, who won cleanly get? Booed and basically not talked about for the accomplishment.

First, I think most people didn't want the streak to be broken. Second, WWE would have never allowed an up-and-comer to end it. They're not going to give an accolade like that to someone unless that person is either one of the top names in the business or WWE is 100% convinced that they will be. There's no point in wasting that on someone who will just end up amounting to nothing in the grand scheme of things. Also, the streak wouldn't do much to build someone's career unless you want them to be the most hated person in existence since no one was ever going to cheer the streak being broken.

The Streak became too big to give it to anybody and it not swallow them up. At least with Flair and HBK it hadn't been built up for years until it balled out of control.

I always felt it should've been used in a feud with Cena and have him break it by turning heel in the process.

I'm in the "I'm fine with the streak ending" camp. All good things must come to an end, and Lesnar won't find his career being destroyed by ending it.

People keep saying "they" decided to end the streak. I firmly believe that Vince entirely left this up to Taker. If he wanted to go another year, he would. If he wanted to retire with it, he would. If he wanted to lose it, he would and would pick who. All without much if any debate from Vince.
