When ECW was canceled and NXT was born, out came 8 NXT rookies and one of which is Daniel Bryan the biggest thing in wrestling. Wow!

NXT has produced some bonafide names. Not all huge stars, but some are still very much on TV and recognizable. Daniel Bryan, Wade Barrett, Ryback, Curtis Axel, Heath Slater, Bray Wyatt, Titus O'Neil, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns (was he on NXT or just FCW?), Fandango, Darren Young, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan. At one point you could've added Brodus Clay and David Otunga to that list.

To be fair every new wrestler goes through NXT (both incarnations)
So there's bound to be success stories, because everyone has to go through there.

I'm surprised they let a relative of Dixie on the roster.

I think the OP was referencing NXT the TV show that gave us Wade Barrett, Kaval, Kaitlyn, and Johnny Curtis. While a lot of men and women from these shows went on to great success, there have also been quite a few that are best forgotten: Michael Tarver, Lucky Cannon, Eli Cottonwood, Jamie, and Jacob Novak to name a few.

When Vince announced NXT on the second to last ECw episode, and said it would be the "new evolution of sports entertainment", a lot of people scoffed and thought it was just buzzword corporate speak. It may have been at the time, but that's turned out to be absolutely true.

It may have been at the time, but that's turned out to be absolutely true. OVW did it first. So it wasn't a new evolution. It started the whole "work the internet" craze (Bryan mentored by Miz, Kaval mentored by Laycool, heel Michael Cole bitching about the dirtsheets), and the renewed focus on wacky characters and embracing the ridiculousness of wrestling. I think Vince's quote was "next evolution", which may be more accurate. NXT did start a new wave that's slowly but surely changed the feel of the company since its inception.

I think that NXT looks like more of a success when you focus solely on the current incarnation.
The Shield - The 2nd hottest babyface act in the company today, and has been on fire consistently since they debut a year and a half ago. The Wyatt Family - Been booked strongly ever since their debut, with the head of the faction coming off of a WrestleMania match against the face of the company. Big E Langston - The reigning Intercontinental Champion, a title that appears to slowly be regaining some prestige through the #1 contenders tournament. Paige - Captured the Divas Championship on her first night as part of the main roster.

But I believe him skipping developmental is a big reason the Caption Sin Cara as 60's Spiderman thread is so hilarious. That is a huge success story.
