I'm with Mick on this, but I wish Punk would just do some freaking yoga.

I've never been upset about him leaving. I'm upset about the way he did it. No farewell speech or angle, and no notice to the company he works for. He just left one day like a big baby.
But either way, I actually forget about Punk until I see a thread like this or the fans start a random chant.

Again, until actual legit details come out, it's impossible to judge Punk on his decisions, or even know what he said, what Vince agreed or disagreed to, and what really even happened. Making a judgment and a condemnation with zero evidence is absurd.

Hey a new cycle of Punk topics.
First we had "Punks Gone!?"
Then we had "Why'd Punk Go!?"
Followed by "Screw Punk I Hate Him!"
And now we have "Don't Blame Punk!!!"
Which means we are scant few weeks away from "Punks Returning?"
Thank you Charles Messiah Punk your sacrifice has given the forums plenty of sustenance, never forget he walked out for your threads.

Even though he had no obligation to do so I think Punk should have said *something* to his fanbase following his walkout. It would have made things much easier on everyone involved (the company. his fans, his friends/peers in the business) The day he left, he tweeted this, the last thing to be posted on his Twitter account thus far: So with all apologies...what was your argument again? Someone up there mentioned Jericho and the Radicalz. Jericho did not renew his contract and left, as did/do dozens/hundreds of other wrestlers. The Radicalz were part of a WCW meeting in which Bischoff told everyone that whoever wasn't happy working for WCW could leave. They didn't walk out, they were shown an open door and left. In fact, Shane Douglas and Billy Kidman were both planning to go along, but Kidman was talked out of it and Douglas realized his burned bridges wouldn't allow him back in with the rest of the guys heading to WWF.

But I want to see the monkey dance until the monkey can't dance anymore. As someone who doesn't pay much for the product, don't I deserve that?

Ridiculing Punk for leaving is ludicrous. If he stayed and phoned it in for another 3 or 4 years people would no doubt be clamoring for him to leave, and he'd be main eventing or in the upper mid card doing absolutely nothing. The whole thing would blow. He left and that was best for him, and ultimately has worked out very well for the rest of the roster by freeing up a 20 minute timeslot for other people. That's more than ten percent of Raw's time; huge for other talents. I really see no negatives to him not being on TV anymore, outside of some good matches we'll miss out on. But with all the good new wrestlers on each week, that's not too much of an issue. Bingo. I might be iffy on having him as the face of the company if that was his main holdup, but if he doesn't feel he has it anymore, why should he hang around and keep working somewhere he's not happy at if he's got enough dinero saved up? One of the common pro-Punk arguments is "He's done all he can do." I don't think a wrestler can ever truly do all they can do. Punk could've worked the announce table (he was actually great at it) or had an admin character like Commissioner Foley, and that's if the wrestling aspect was right out. If not, he could've been a Jericho type. But ultimately, he didn't want to do it. Some guys never want to stop, like Cena or Angle, and other guys like Michaels and Jericho try to hang it up but can't quite stay away. Punk might be like them and just needs some time off, or maybe he's done for good. I doubt he's gone forever, though, because wrestling has been his life for decades. But he didn't have the motivation or the willpower to hang around.

Punk is pretty damn flexible as it is then, judging by some pics I am struggling to find.

I honestly think the company and wrestling as a whole would benefit greatly if more guys at the top level would take time off when they either weren't feeling it anymore or just are kind of floating around, creatively.
It would open up more opportunities for new guys to try and move up so that when/if that top star returns, there's a fresh feud ready to go.
It would also allow them to do more press and stuff like that without having to work a full schedule.

Common practice when leaving a job in any field is 2 weeks notice.
Do we "know" everything that went down and how it went down? Of course not, and we won't "know" it 10 years from now after every person on the current roster has done a shoot interview and given their takes on it. We'll still just have accounts from varying perspectives.
So my opinion is based on what was reported about how it went down -- specifically that he met with Vince on the day of a Raw and left, forcing major rewrites since he was going to be on that show (presumably starting an angle with HHH).
If he didn't want to do that angle, and he wanted to walk, if he was unhappy or in pain or whatever the reason, I have no problem with that. If he didn't feel he could get back in the ring and work a match, I understand and sympathize.
But to me it seems the right thing to do would have been to give 2 weeks notice, tell them they need to write him out of the show -- injury angle, walkout, retirement, however they agreed to do it -- and then take some time off or walk off into the sunset, whatever. To leave it hanging the way he did and give them no storyline options is not the best way to do it, and not, in my opinion, professional.

Mick makes a good point but punk went about it all wrong. If he felt broke down, speak to vince. Give vince a chance to write him out of the wwe properly and time to rebook planned storylines. Also say goodbye and thank-you to the fans and explain why he's leaving.
His reasobs may be right but he went abiut it like a big kid.

Second of all....why are people acting as if this is some sort of 'ultimate sin'? Lest we forget, Chris Jericho and The Radicalz walkout from WCW. In those scenarios, by reports, Jericho and Benoit were both offered the title, the company tried to please them, and they still walked. But somehow these guys are forgiven. This is flat out not true. Both Jericho and the Radicalz were at the end of their contracts, and WCW were stupid enough to put the title on Benoit even though his contract expired that night. Punk has three more months left on his contract. That really isn't the same thing, and I'm not siding with or against Punk here, just point out an inaccuracy in what was otherwise a pretty reasonable post.

That's not exactly what happened. In August 1999, Bischoff held a meeting at Nitro about wrestlers publicly bitching about the company. He said that anyone who wanted to leave could do so. The only guy who actually accepted his offer was Raven (although Konnan, Rey Mysterio, and Kidman were said to have considered it). A month later, Bischoff was removed from his position as WCW President. In January 2000, Bill Busch was in charge and informed Vince Russo that he was now going to be sharing creative duties with a group. Russo refused that idea and went home. Kevin Sullivan was put in charge, and that's why the Radicals and Shane Douglas asked for their releases. While Douglas didn't go to the WWF, he did leave WCW the same night the Radicals did (the night after Benoit won the WCW title) and only agreed to re-sign when Sullivan was ousted for Bischoff and Russo a couple months later.

See, I have nothing against Punk leaving. Whatever the case, it was his decision and his life to know what he want's.
What I do have a problem with are the people chanting his name acting like he was suspended or fired by the company, or he left because Batista won the Rumble. I have nothing against Punk leaving, I can't stand the people who have turned it around on the WWE and act like WWE is at the fault.
