I'll be over here, waiting for the 'social media' bubble... to at least get smaller? WWE is better off without pushing it. It's not as annoying as it was when RAW first went to 3 hours. Correct me if I'm reading this wrong, but this post isn't so much about Tout, but social media as a whole, no? If that's the case, then I disagree. On Twitter alone, I've seen countless people, myself included, get "back into" WWE because the people who they followed were constantly tweeting about it. Its a powerful tool for them, no doubt.

Yeah, someone here posted a story many months ago a story detailing WWE/Tout - they bought into the company (which wasn't even that much money, compared to what you might think) and made their investment back - and a BIG TIME profit - within weeks. Yea I don't see why everybody is going LOLWWE in regards with Tout. If investing and getting a solid return on your investment is a bad thing, then you need to understand how the business world works. There is a lot of things to mock Vince for, TOUT isn't one of them.

No, what they're doing now is fine. I barely notice it. But there was a brief spell where they were really obsessed about 'trending' and all. My post was kind of bemoaning the general obsession with social media though, not just WWE. How the media basically gets its news from it, how short bursts and fleeting thoughts seem to stand in for actual discussion - you know... something a cranky old person might complain about.

To that I wholly agree. I hate how the media treats online material as a whole. I hate the term "social media," I hate the word viral, and I hate how things people are talking about online is treated as news. I don't mind, and actually encourage, its involvement in the media but it shouldn't be news (or the focus of a wrestling show) on its own.

I will never understand this mentality of criticizing vince for trying new ventures. As a businessman, he always try to take risks, sometimes they will pay off (going national) others not (XFL) and others will be irrelevant (Tout) At least I admire and applaud when Vince tries to do that, in the end is his money so if he goes broke, I really couldn't care less It's not the fact that he's trying new ventures, it was going overboard with plugging it throughout Raw. They stopped just short of everyone wearing a shirt with a Tout logo.

I agree with this completely, CNN reading Tweets like they were news annoyed me more than anything WWE ever did with twitter or Touts. I like that the way they handle it now with Twitter scroll acting like instant fan mail and giving superstars reactions.

If investing and getting a solid return on your investment is a bad thing, then you need to understand how the business world works. There is a lot of things to mock Vince for, TOUT isn't one of them. Sadly, the success of Tout was never really widely reported - that, and WWE basically stopped (pardon me) touting it. It comes up in threads like this, and thankfully someone at some point managed to find and post a news item about it. After 25 years of WWE fandom I can say that if something gets a huge push on WWE TV and then drops off the map, it's typically a failure. They'll never admit that, so it goes away. And it seems that thought process is shared. In this instance, though, it's a case of the truth bucks the trend. But only after asking (and assuming) does the truth come out. Sidenote: I wonder how many people are actively using Tout on a weekly basis during the WWE shows....

Did someone already bring back that "Bringing it back in Pog form" joke? I'm totally not going all the way back to page one to see if it's there, but I f***in love that joke.

It's still listed on WWE's website, and the company posted a video four days ago. www.tout.com/u/wweHmm, the most recent posting says "Join the 'Party Posse' with Adam Rose." I can't wait to hear him sing "Yvan eht Nioj"!

I dunno, I was surprised myself that it died out, even though the second I heard about it I rolled my eyes because WWE put money into it and wanted to push it.
Then again, I was surprised that Vine went over as the popular thing as opposed to Tout. I see more Vines posted on Tumblr more than even Instagram videos or Touts. You'd think fifteen seconds of video as opposed to six seconds would be more efficient for people. But Vine does have it's association with Twitter and the apparent fact you can splice stuff together going for it.

I don't think anyone is criticising WWE for taking a chance with Tout, we're simply remembering how annoying it was to hear about it all the time and how f***ing excruciating it was to actually watch the Touts themselves.
