He's not even a hero to dozens. And that's being generous.

Gunner used to be a heel. Now, he is a hero to millions! That horse in now IKEA Swedish meatballs.

I think the off-screen talent has been a much bigger detriment to TNA than the on-screen talent ever has. Sure Hogan was a big mess from start to finish, but (and I say this as someone who has zero interest in seeing him on TV) he COULD have been used in a way that made the show better instead of the show basically revolving around him, his daughter, his radio DJ buddy, etc etc. TNA's always had great talent on their roster but a lot of what they do is cut at the Achilles tendon by some idiotic idea from the creative team. The "New Generation Era" needs to happen behind the scenes, not with the talent they have up front. Take Gunner for example. Why he's not a heel is beyond me - what, just cause he's a soldier? Come on. The first night Hogan showed up in TNA, there was a good Angle-AJ match and he appeared in the entry way and he said on the mic:"This is the best wrestling has to offer!" or something like that. This was the right way for him to be used, to praise and promote the product. I thought for a second that he wouldn't go into selfish typical Hogan hugging the spotlight background but be good for them. It was refreshing as Hell. Didn't last long.

Going New Gen is what TNA should have done starting in 06/07 when their current top stars were younger and ready to start their take over. I feel like what TNA needs to do more than anything is come up with a plan on how they want the show, roster and promotion to be looked at then stick to that plan. No more world title pushes after a couple of weeks of build and no more having world champions drop the title on their last show. Bad booking like that makes TNA look like WCW in its dying days or a low rent indy fed. Let Roodee, Joe, Aries and other top talent carry the main event for the next 2-3 while you develop the younger stars and make the necessary changes. Fill the tag team and X divisions with hungry young talent that you want to make top guys in the future. Also, have real storylines not related to those divisions titles as a way to see if talent can can carry a story and be as popular without a title belt than they are when fighting for the gold. Working on the KO division and taking it serious once again would be another good move for TNA. Throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it sticks doesn't work and I hope TNA will understand that in the future and try to be a promotion that I can take pride in watching again. TNA had so much young talent in 06, if there had been ever a time to build the next generation of stars it was there. But JJ decided to "pass the torch" at this new wrestler called Sting at Bound for Glory. Then Angle and Christian hugged the spotlight for the remaining of the time. Also there's no doubt that to me the best plan for current TNA would be to focus on your best guys whether it's Joe, Storm, Roode, Aries, Daniels and a few others and insert the new guys more slowly into the mix. Of course it's clear that TNA wanted a youth movement cause they can pay them cheap and they'll do whatever you'll ask them to do. But i'd rather their best guys shine and to have Shaw, EC3 and the others fight amongst themselves with secondary titles.

I actually felt bad for Christian since he was pushed aside after Angle was signed and the TNA main event became built around Angle for the most part. When Christian first left WWE for TNA, I was sure he would be TNA's equivalent of Mick Foley/Stone Cold moving to WWE from WCW. When it comes to Sting, I just don't understand why anyone in TNA thought it was a good idea to give him the title besides a short "thank you" reign like WWE gave HBK in 2002. Sting could have kept the mid/upper-card busy and didn't need to be around the world title. I wouldn't have jobbed him out to the extreme WWE did with Flair, but I would have used Sting to help bring around the younger talent.

Here's the thing, Christian shined in TNA, as a face in 06 and as a leader of the heel Christian Collalition in 07. Sure Angle will eventualy steal his thunder. But i'm thinking if CC would not have been there for example, Joe would probably have been the one taking that spot in 06 after his X Division run. And a good chunk of 07 when CC was champ leading his group with AJ and Tomko, i'm thinking another heel could have had that spot, possibly a homegrown maybe Bobby Roode cause Jarrett took a leave of absence following his defeat against Sting and the coming of Angle. What i'm saying is that there was always an excuse for TNA to not push their guys. Hell the image of having their most gifted talent in AJ Styles acting as a lackey for a new arrival like Christian in 07 was telling.
