Know what really sucks? This song, along with many others on the album it's on, was co-written with David Hodges, who is normally a great songwriter. Why did you attach yourself to this junk, David? Why? Because he has bills to pay. If I'm ever a successful musician, if I have to choose between my credibility and a shitload of money, I am going to choose the f***ing money, because the wellbeing of my family is more important than a single other f***ing thing in my life, including my credibility.

The song is awful beyond words but all the allegations of it being racist are stupid since the abomination was made by the Japanese for a Japanese audience.

While that seems true why would Avril need to go that direction? She has had multiple hit songs that made her those millions and for that she already well established. It's like she did it because her cash flow was running dry and needed a quick attention getter. When I honestly didn't think she had too. She could easily wrote a song much like what she done before and made a hit song. She talented enough and established enough to do that. The music style of this song isn't even the same of her other work. I dunno, she's not considered much of an 'in-thing', really. The pop market is already pretty full with the likes of Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, Shakira, Ellie Goulding etc etc etc. Avril Lavigne's older work is definitely showing its age, so she can hardly retreat to that. So yes, a quick cash-and-grab exercise to steal the headlines for a bit, but nothing that will sell tickets for a world tour or anything. Aside from this, she's been typically childish about the reaction. "I can't be a racist, I have JAPANESE FRIENDS!!!!1!" She also made note that the record company, director, and choreographer were all Japanese. Which I'd say is a pretty legit argument.
