You know what the Michael Sam story still gets play? Because people keep talking about it, Tony Dungy is the next idiot to speak on it. Let the kid play football! That's why I only watch the actual games. It makes things so much more enjoyable and you don't have to wade through the sea of bullshit that is sports media.

Broncos released(failed physical) TE Joel Driessen today. Saved about 2.5million in cap money this year so he was probably gone anyway.
By the way guys, if you didn't know there's a site called Overthecap.com really lets you look at a teams salary cap situation for the next 3 years pretty easily.
For the Broncos this puts them about 7.5 million under the cap which really is a good spot to go into training camp with. Lions are in cap hell right now with only about 300K available and most of their decent sized contracts carrying a negative cap hit for a release.

The Los Angeles Times reports Rams owner Stan Kroenke has "looked into" buying more property around his 60-acre lot in Inglewood, Cal.
According to reporter Sam Farmer, that would give Kroenke "all the land he'd need for a stadium, parking and ancillary development." Kroenke bought the original 60 acres — which would be enough for a stadium, but not everything else — in late 2013. The league has made it clear it's tired of leaving the L.A. market dormant.

I was just looking over all of the stuff Kroenke owns (including the Colorado Avalanche, the Denver Nuggets, the Rams and the Pepsi Center), and I've come to a shocking conclusion.
Motherf***er's rich.

Teams never last in LA, why would this time be any different?

Teams never last in LA, why would this time be any different? Why is that? It doesn't make any sense; it's probably America's most famous city with basketball and hockey teams that do very well, but America's most popular sport doesn't fare well there. I don't know if there's any real reason, but it's weird to think about. It doesn't make sense.

f*** the media. They keep pushing this Michael Sam thing to the point where it gets overexposure, which hurts Sam. Hell, I agree with Dungy. Sam's unintentionally creating a media circus that runs the risk of damaging the team. The media found out he was gay, ran it constantly in the 24 hour news cycle that made teams hesitant to be in the eye of the storm, caused him to fall, and then ran that in the news cycle. Michael Sam is a great kid, but he's being ran over by media conglomerates like ESPN who are determined to squeeze every last drop out of this story.

It sucks that something he can't control is causing him to be such a story. Sure, one could say 'well, maybe he shouldn't kiss his boyfriend on TV', but how fair is that?
It sucks that in a league full of drug and domestic abusers, the gay kid causes the biggest uproar. Fortunately public opinion is changing very rapidly, but it's still a drag for the kid.

I don't know if there's any real reason, but it's weird to think about. It doesn't make sense. As strange as it sounds I think it has something to do with USC and UCLA being there. Yeah, Los Angeles has 2 NBA teams, but being able to put 15,000 to 20,000 into each game for all 4 teams is a f*** lot easier than getting 70,000 into each game for even 3 teams. There's more to do in Los Angeles, and with USC and UCLA being deep rooted moreso than any NFL team, they'll take priority if someone can only choose one. What other city would have to host 2 big time college programs and an NFL team? It sucks that something he can't control is causing him to be such a story. Sure, one could say 'well, maybe he shouldn't kiss his boyfriend on TV', but how fair is that? It sucks that in a league full of drug and domestic abusers, the gay kid causes the biggest uproar. Fortunately public opinion is changing very rapidly, but it's still a drag for the kid. What I find funny about the Sam thing, is that the media is thinking him being gay will be a distraction. Like it's something players in the NFL have never had to deal with. I'd love for someone big like a Peyton Manning to get asked about it, and him to respond "Do you honestly think Michael Sam is the only gay player to play in the NFL? Do you honestly think Sam is the only gay player currently in the NFL? The players know who's gay, and we don't care."

The fact he went on to blame the media for this is ridiculous because guess what, Tony Dungy is the media and has been for years. The man is an disingenuous asshole and this is just another example of it.

Wheels aren't going to fall off of Seattle this season. They may not be as dominant this year, but they are still very talented and will be in the mix all season. I think that Denver is in bigger trouble because I've got a feeling that Peyton goes down at some point this season. Agreed. Seattle might not win it all again, but there's NO reason to think they won't be right there in the conversation. It's the exact same team.

He stated that Sam deserved to play, but he (Dungy) probably wouldnt have drafted him because the media distractions wouldn't be worth it. That's the opposite of a bullshit reason.

Look into Dungy's past (Deadspin has a great bit on it in their coverage of this) and you'll see why I think Dungy is full of bullshit. I believe the man's personal beliefs are coming into play because he had absolutely no problems with his convicted felon QB friend who was a far bigger media target getting time but not Michael Sam, a low round draft pick? He tried to blame it on the Oprah thing even though it was well known months before he ran his mouth about Sam that Sam shot it down and again blamed the media for all the issues when the only issue was him. Bullshit reasons.

Yeah, I'm sticking with San Francisco over Indy in the Super Bowl, but Seattle and San Francisco will be the best teams in the NFL again. As for Denver being in trouble, they won't have as good of a season as last year. They've got 4 games against the NFC West. I think Denver finishes 11-5 (losses to Indy, Seattle, New England, San Francisco and at San Diego), but it's good enough to win the AFC West.

Bullshit reasons. Yeah, Tony Dungy is pretty much singling out Sam because of his own homophobic mindset as evidenced by his previous and likely current associations with anti-LGBT groups. He dresses it up in nice language, but it comes from attitudes rooted in ignorance and intolerance. It's why he thinks a gay athlete is more of a distraction than a convicted dog murderer. He's full of shit and I'm sure he's not the only former or active NFL coach who feels the same way. It just makes Jeff Fisher, Les Snead, and Stan Kroenke look that much better for taking a chance on the kid.

Bullshit reasons. I agree with you on Dungy being full of it. The guy considers himself the authority on everyone else's business, and that rubs me the wrong way. I still agree with him on Sam though. If I were a GM, I wouldn't draft Sam unless I had a pressing need at that position. A 7th rounder isn't worth the media frenzy. I do think it's great a team took a chance, though.

Even though the NFC has a lot of depth, there's this feeling in the air that everyone else is playing for third behind these teams.

Reports are surfacing that Christian Ponder is still shitty.
