I'm not worried about the Olympics, that's two years away. It's the World Cup that worries me, that's one month away.

You don't have to move it, just re-air the 2012 Olympics and see if anybody notices.

You don't have to move it, just re-air the 2012 Olympics and see if anybody notices. Considering it's the second most watched sporting event in the World, a few people might have an inkling. Plus don't forget minor details like several sprinters who were banned, suddenly appearing in a race, people who are actually dead winning medals and a certain South African runner being given a rousing ovation by the crowd (which is appropriate as he was found innocent/ which is inappropriate as he was found guilty. Delete as applicable).

I'm talking about for Americans. You might need to re-do the Opening & Closing Ceremonies, some track events, gymnastics and swimming, Otherwise, for the majority of events 98% of Americans won't even know the difference.
Because if it didn't air on NBC, it didn't happen.

How can they do the ceremonies again?
They pretty much covered British history, children's horror stories and pop culture.
I guess they could get Dr Who this time...

Now that we have some distance, how fubared were the Sochi Olympics, really? I mean, the stuff we here stateside is likely not that impartial.

Free-to-air Olympics coverage very rarely covers the whole thing. It's ALWAYS slanted towards athletes from *insert your nation here*.

My main gripe with the Olympics is how how they require the host city to build all these brand new stadiums. We're at a point now where they can use cities or regions with plenty of arenas and stadiums so the host city doesn't have to construct a ton of structures that will go unused after the games are over.

I could be completely off base here, but could the reason Brazil is so far behind with the Olympics be because they spent so much time getting ready for the World Cup or are they even struggling to get that ready now a month out?

Can't they just use the numerous endowed posteriors of their female citizens as a stadium/arena for the games?

Giving the World Cup AND the Olympics to a single country within two years of each other was absurd, especially a country like Brazil which is still largely a developing nation.

Now that we have some distance, how fubared were the Sochi Olympics, really? I mean, the stuff we here stateside is likely not that impartial. Eh, I didn't follow Sochi that much but I seem to recall the consensus was that it was they were a resounding success in contrast to the extremely negative build-up to it in the media that apparently fabricated and greatly exaggerated several alleged problems. I remember lots of headlines at least being very positive about how it turned out. But again, I didn't follow it closely enough to say that definitively. Granted, certain human rights issues and certain post-Olympic events involving Russia will forever color those Olympics--as they should.

Now if we could move the World Cup from Qatar My guess is that FIFA will hold it in January. Thus forcing me for the first time to watch World Cup matches with snow outside while I'm wearing wooly socks.
