www.wwe.com/classics/wherearetheynow/where-are-they-now-joey-mercury-26309214WWE’s latest “Where Are They Now?” catches up with former tag team champion Joey Mercury, who has been working in WWE developmental for some time now. Mercury has worked with each member of The Shield and it was noted in the article that they see him as the 4th member of their group. Mercury is currently one of WWE’s most-respected producers and a mentor to up and coming talents. Seth Rollins said of Mercury: “He is a mastermind when it comes to wrestling psychology, and the ins and outs of being in the ring. He loves teaching people how to do things and do them better. He’s a talent maximizer. He takes your best assets and makes them better. He takes the things you’re terrible at and helps you improve. I think he’s found peace. He once told me that he’s never had a feeling in the ring by himself that compares to the feeling he gets [working with Superstars].” Paul Heyman, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns also praised Mercury, with Ambrose saying a dozen WWE Hall of Famers will thank Mercury in their acceptance speeches.

I feel Mercury is severely under-rated, he could do a decent promo, knows ring psychology, can sell, and knows his product

It looks like Mercury is trying to sell the Shield a car in that picture

I wouldn't mind seeing Mercury become "The Producer" of the Shield. He looks like a good manager in that suit.

Good for Mercury he's found something he really loves and is able to contribute so much to the company.

I'm surprised Joey Mercury didn't grow his hair back after the SES storyline.

Seeing this article on the website this morning really made me smile; Joey's my absolute favourite wrestler, and it's so cool knowing that he's really found his niche and is so happy with it (even if that means I don't get to watch him in the ring anymore.) He's definitely a really underrated performer.

I like the guy, but he shouldn't shave his head.

I'm still not used to him being bald. Also, Reigns' face looks really weird in that photo, like someone's put Rollins' face on his body.
EDIT: Also, I laughed at the "What went through my mind? The fourth rung." line.

I always thought his catchphrase should've been "just because I'm Joey Mercury that doesn't mean I won't kick Uranus!"

I always really liked Mercury. I guess that goes without saying since MNM was my favorite thing in WWE when it was around, but still. He was such a good wrestler and was always the workhorse of his matches. Part of the reason MNM was a good team was because when he was in the ring, the wrestling was always good.
Part of me still hopes for an MNM reunion even though I'm certain that it won't happen. But I'm glad that they kept him and helped him sort out his personal demons, because whether he's wrestling or training other wrestlers, he has so much to give to WWE.

Joey was one of my favourite talents. He's also a great story of a drug addict who was this wrestling savant, and it's so good that someone like him was able to get into WWE, especially in the position he's in right now. Also, they mentioned he and Seth Rollins had a match. When did that happen? I know they were in the Age of the Fall. Did Joey have a match with him after he broke away from the Age of the Fall?

I remember a story about him falling on hard times due to personal demons and Punk really helping him out a lot, which was awesome and really made me gain even more respect for Punk.

IWA Mid-South in 07 Mercury won that match

But is he still the Jannetty?

But is he still the Jannetty? He is more of 'an Anvil'. No real singles success. When he came back he was the 4th fiddle in a stable. That said, I hate "The Jannetty" and unlike Anvil, he has had a happy ending so far...

I'm glad he won't just be remembered as the guy who got his face destroyed at Armaggeddon '06.
