I feel sorry for that surfer. He was hoping for an enjoyable day in the waves, and got captured by Ian Wright.

So I got some money on Croatia tonight. Rooting for the underdog is always fun and has much more profit potential. f*** watching 3 hours of this shitty pre match ITV coverage though. its so cringe worthy What you don't like Ian Wright stumbling about on a beach talking to random German surfers? Or is it the fact we have three defensive players talking about Brazil a traditionally attacking team Hearing Lee Dixon telling Fabio that he looks good in his kit and that he used to go in his opponents changing room and steal their clothes has been the highlight so far Ah well we got Pitbull to look forward to now. it'll be like The Rocks birthday Raw all over again

Any more Manilow references, ITV?

Thankfully, I can't hear anything J-Lo and Pitbull are singing.

I still feel like Brazil not having a clear striker in their squad is going to hurt them. Their defense though is excellent.
Who wins the tournament is a tough question. If Spain and Germany play the same possession game that Bayer Munich and Barcelona play, they are probably going to have a tough time against good counter-attacking teams. With that style of play, I don't think either one will win the Cup.
Argentina got out of my bracket as the winner, so I guess they will win the Cup. Just have to hope that they don't have to defend much, since the defence isn't very solid.

Was that just ITV or did everyone else in the world also hear absolutely nothing but noise during that ceremony?

Before things get serious with the World Cup, I found an amusing article from SBNation about some of the worst national teams. www.sbnation.com/soccer/2014/6/11/5778094/world-cup-2014-worst-teamsI was hoping some more Oceania teams would've made this list besides Samoa. They are so bad, Australia decided to give up a sure bid and challenge it out in the Asian tournament.

Hillsborough is different to Valley Parade, Munich, Ibrox and other footballing disasters because it's unresolved, and none of the people affected were subject to the kind of smear campaign the Hillsborough families were. That's why the families have refused to roll over and go away, and they are perfectly right to do so. You can't heal and move on under such circumstances. The Hillsborough families are associated with victimisation because they HAVE been victimised, for decades, in an insidious and shocking smear campaign and cover up. The 15th of April is as much a reminder to the establishment and those like Alan Davies who clearly don't get it that they haven't gone away and haven't given up. That's more important to Liverpool Football Club than playing a football match every anniversary. Okay, I'll accept that rationalisation for not playing on the anniversary, even though to me it sends out the wrong signals - it's not a "we will not be silenced" show of support. 50,000 fans singing YNWA at 3:06pm (or six minutes into the game, whichever is applicable) feels like a more fitting way to remember the dead and show support for their bereaved than saying "nope, we don't wanna play today". All that said, while the families have been victimised, the bandwagon jumpers, especially those who weren't even alive in 1989 and couldn't name a single victim if their lives depended on it (and I've come across many), have not... yet they act as though they have and continue to be. It's disingenuous. The sympathies are with the 96 and their families, not the club or its fans, and I have no time or tolerance for those who subscribe to the professional mourner mindset.

Fabio Cannavaro and Alberto Del Rio really could be separated at birth with hair that Fabio got going on.

Got up about half an hour ago. Missed the opening ceremony.
See that executive producer of some TV show Jennifer Lopez performed... So I guess some entertainment countdown show give her credit to whoever wins the opening match.

Perhaps. But it's up to the club and the families to decide. If they prefer a more solemn occasion such as a memorial, their wishes should be respected.
The club, fans and the 96 victims/families are linked due to the circumstances of the disaster. One doesn't have to know the names of the victims in order to show solidarity with those directly affected.

Those score graphics on ITV are very sexy. Just need a solid colour behind it or something because it's tough to read at times

I'd recommend "ITV Sport" being dumped and moving the clock to the side of the flags.
Otherwise yes, the graphics look cool
