Be funny after two years if he leaves Cleveland again.

"Come on Lebron" if you are going to commit commit. He has major commitment issues.

It isn't surprising. People were talking about him doing this even if he stayed in Miami. The salary cap is going to explode in 2016 and he can get the biggest possible contract be re-upping in 2016.

Apparently they ASSUME he'll just resign with Cavs for a ton in two hears. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Yeah, it's a business decision for him. New NBA TV contract starts in 2 years and the salary cap, and value of a max contract, explode after that. After all this hoopla and rebuilt bridges and literal tears of joy I'd be shocked if he left Cleveland again after 2 years.

For all the fawning and adulation that Daryl Morey has received, as basketball's preeminent statistical and analytic genius, he's really made some baffling moves in recent years. He almost reminds me of Paul DePodesta, the former Dodgers general manager. DePodesta was this rising hot-shot whiz kid in the "Moneyball" Oakland Athletics of the early 2000s, but as soon as the Dodgers hired him, he took all the money, betrayed his sabermetric teachings, and just splurged on overpriced, underperforming players. He was out of a job within two years. Morey has sort of done the same. He gets free reign over the Rockets' purse strings and everyone portrays him as this financial mastermind who'll find the right pieces, but instead Morey is no different than most GMs, deciding to throw huge contracts at Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik, Dwight Howard, and potentially Chris Bosh, while losing Chandler Parsons to a division rival. Yet he's still defended and protected as some sort of brilliant basketball mind. There are a few reasons why I believe this is categorically false, and I'll go through them here. 1) They have not lost Chandler Parsons to a rival. The rival has simply signed them to an offer sheet, which they have the opportunity to match. Every indication at this point, is that they will. With that being said, there is fire in a camp that believes that Morey should have simply used the club option on Parsons, effectively having him for 1-2mil this year as opposed to the 14-15 he's going to get now, but I don't think anybody realized how full retard teams were going to be whilst signing wings this offseason. 2) Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin were not excellent contracts, however, they aren't terrible. After all, Morey was able to successfully able to flip both this offseason for the most precious thing in all of the NBA landscape: cap room. The reason why a people respect Morey is because he has some moxy. He takes chances. I don't believe anyone thinks he's a perfect GM, or a prodigy. Just very good at his job. 3)Daryl Morey consistently has his team in the hunt to get, not marginally better, but considerably better. They are in the hunt for nearly every big name free agent, this year, Bosh is the example. They struck out on Bosh, but he would have been an excellent fit for their team, and had Bosh wanted to go for Championships over money, Houston would have been an incredible choice. Now, after losing out on Bosh, they are left with cap room, which is really just flexibility. They shifted stuff around and made room for Bosh, he spurned them, and now they move on. So essentially, the only questionable thing he's really done is sign Jeremy Lin. He's terrible and one-dimensional, but by all means a serviceable point guard. Just not at 10m a year guy. Asik is a quality big. You sign those regardless, and then you STILL try to go get a guy like Dwight Howard if you can swing it. I think even you'd agree with that. Other than that, he's been a victim of things that are relatively out of his hands. Morey turned Goran Dragic and Kyle Lowery into Jeremy Lin. He has been touted for his use of analytics for awhile, but I REALLY don't get it. Now he is bringing back Ariza on a 4 year $32 million contract after they already jettisoned him a year after he had signed a 5 year $34 million WITH THE ROCKETS in 2009. At least he appeared to have potential then. The supposed cornerstones of the team he has built are two mental midgets in James Harden (don't forget how abysmal he was in his only NBA Finals trip) and Dwight Howard (no explanation needed). Even if his teams overperform in the regular season, they are not a real title contenders.

Not only is it just a two-year contract, it has an opt-out for next season. So let's see how immediately LeBron James washes away all the good will he's built up over the last 24 hours when he opts out and leaves Cleveland next summer.

Well we all thought it was formality LeBron would resign with Miami. LeBron is like Sting circa 1996 "nothings for sure"

From Brian Windorst on Twitter: "LeBron is expecting the salary cap to jump massively in 2016, James aims to re-sign at that time. Fully committed to Cavs long term."
No need to worry about him leaving y'all.
More interestingly, I wonder what's gonna happen with player salaries next round of CBAs. I bet my life the players are gonna fight like crazy to regain the revenue split they lost last round and longer contracts

Love to Cavs No way should the Cavs be allowed to have Love without giving up Wiggens. This would be like the Lakers stealing Gasol from the Grizzles all over again.
