Depending on how Chicago, New York, Washington, and Indiana shape up it's going to be very difficult for Miami. They'll definitely be a contender for sure, however, it is the East we're talking about here.

But no, East finals looks more like a toss up between the Bulls (if Rose remains healthy for once), Pacers and Cavs.

So, the moral of the story is nobody wants to play with Kobe Bryant?

C Milovan Rakovic's draft rights are now owned by the Bulls after they acquired him in a minor trade with the Magic, which sent Anthony Randolph's contract and a couple second-round picks to Orlando.
ESPN is reporting that John Salmons will sign with the Pelicans.

So, the moral of the story is nobody wants to play with Kobe Bryant? Force the Lakers to trade best Center in the game at the time in Shaq, run off the best Center in the game in Dwight Howard, and now Pau takes a pay cut to leave, yeah pretty much nobody wants to play with Kobe.

I'll give you Shaq, but Dwight made it perfectly clear from the beginning that he didn't want to be in LA. And Gasol? There was never any bad blood between him and Kobe. Hell, Kobe even wrote the foreword to Gasol's recent book. Gasol was gonna take a pay cut regardless of where he was gonna go, even if he stayed in LA. He just chose to play for a contending team rather than a rebuilding team. As for free agency, I'd say the extra $30 million is what convinced Melo so stay in NY.

I think a lot of guys would have gone to play with a 25 year old superstar diva Kobe. But dealing with a long-in-the-tooth 35 year old that's in obvious decline but still acts like a basketball diva... no thanks.
Kobe's at a point in his career were he can still be "the man" in a game if he has to be, but if he still thinks he can be "the man" for an entire season the Lakers are done. I'm not sure if his ego will allow for him to come to this understanding with any sort of grace or dignity. If you have any desire to see the postseason and be a contender, the Lakers are not a team to join until the Kobe situation is handled.

The fact that this organization believes that we can still compete with an over-the-hill Kobe and a dying Steve Nash shows me where the braintrust is on this team...no where.

I'm honestly hoping Wade can get a second wind to his career, because as much as people have bashed him for his dirty plays, he's pretty much done everything to put the needs of the team first.

I'm late to the party on this, but SMH at Carmelo showing he doesn't care about winning.
This was a chance to get away from Dolan and JR Smith.
But.... no.
Knick fans better hope Phil Jackson and Fisher know what they're doing

The Hawks will acquire Thabo Sefolosha in a sign-and-trade with the Thunder, with OKC receiving a $4 million traded-player exception and the draft rights to Sofoklis Schortsanitis.
The Bulls waived Carlos Boozer via their amnesty provision on Tuesday, clearing his $16.8 million salary from their salary cap.

Well, he solidified getting his number retired by the Heat after his career is done. Gotta give Riley credit: Although this team's not going have a great chance of making the Finals, he's doing what he can to make sure the Heat stay competitive for the next couple of seasons.
