as long as you time it right you can minimise their projectiles, I usually do ok with it.... well until the a.i. learns it and counters.

Has there been any word on whether you get to switch during the fight or you'll have to choose beforehand? If it's the switch, I'm down for that. If it's the pre-match choice... heh, never been a fan of that mechanic. Why not allow the player to use all the moves if they're here anyway? I think you can only choose one style beforehand. I remember demo footage of Cassie Cage where you chose a style from the character select screen. Damn. Well, there are many fighting games that use that system that I like, but I really would rather be able to have all moves a my disposal.

I am amused that in the last Mortal Kombat game most if not all the heroes died, yet Kano survived.

I am amused that in the last Mortal Kombat game most if not all the heroes died, yet Kano survived. I'm surprised Johnny Cage, who has died in about every MK game in the 2D generation, was one of the only heroes to live. There's a few rumors making the rounds, some make me happy, some don't. There were 2 possible leaks: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Jennifer Hale was listed on IMDB temporarily as the voice of Tanya in MKX. Granted, like Wikipedia, anyone can edit IMDB, so that could have easily been false information, but it's not surprising at all to expect Tanya to be back.
Further, a fan tweeted Ed Boon a picture of Bo Rai Cho, and asked about his inclusion in MKX as a "double dare". Ed's response was "well since it's a double dare...", leading some to believe Bo Rai Cho is back. I hope they give him the Stryker treatment and make him worthwhile as a character, because he's easily in my top 5 most hated Mortal Kombat characters...

She's growing on me, but I'm MUCH more hyped about Kotal Kahn. That, and I'm curious about a storyline excuse as to why Sub-Zero is back. In MK9, both Sub-Zero characters died, so how is he back to being human again? (I think we've passed the statute of limitations on spoilers for MK9...))

If I remember right, Tanya was a heavily requested DLC character for the last MK game so it wouldn't surprise me if she's in MKX.

I expect any excuse will work

Recycled the name like the second one did. Boom. Problem solved. Or even simpler: some other Lin Kuei named himself that. Scorpion hates this one too because Scorpion. As for Kotal Kahn... meh. Of all the newcomers announced so far, he's the one I'm interested in the least. Oh, Ogre from Tekken decided to join the MK roster. Cool. Can we go back to Crazy Bug Lady and Master Blaster, please?

MK can be corny, sure, but it still aims to be dark and when it goes for humour, it usually still fits and it's more dark humour than anything else. Bo Rai Cho is "FART PUKE LOL". He's the kind of character an 8-year-old would come up with, and his classmates would think his idea is stupid. And are seriously supposed to buy that THIS guy trained Liu "Boy Scout" Kang?

Few of the jokes in Mortal Kombat are "high brow", but come on, this guy is the guy who trained Liu Kang, Shujinko (well, it SHOULD be a big deal that he trained Shujinko if he wasn't a total dweeb of a character, and others from the Mortal Kombat storylines who weren't in the game. I wasn't expecting him to be "in shape" or anything, I just wasn't digging the fact that he was a joke character...

Dying in Mortal Kombat doesn't mean anything anyway..
Look at Liu kang, was killed off in the Deadly Alliance intro, brought back as a zombie for Deception.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him in this game truth be told. If he does I'd like him to look a little bit older, Perhaps have a beard and slightly greyer hair (Not look like Shujinko though)

This is true, but this is their chance to reinvent him to MAKE IT WORK. They really need to give him more of a Yoda vibe. Someone watching Empire Strikes Back for the first time would go "Wait, THIS is the Jedi Master?" then they actually show him as the wise old master he's supposed to be. Bo Rai Cho...never really got that. I mean, I like him, but his moveset was always too jokey. I'm not saying a complete revamp is necessary, but they definitely need to fix him up a little bit.

That's why I thought it worked, honestly. It's just taking the piss out of the extreme seriousness of a lot of the game, the old "wise Chinese master" stereotype, and the hand or foot-generated special powers of the other fighters.

Has anything been said about Noob Saibot? Maybe getting kicked into that Soulnado in the last game reverted him back to being Sub-Zero?

With Bo Rai Cho, this game has a natural way to make him more appealing to players. Have one of his styles be the traditional pukey joke, another be the drunken stance and style but without the toilet humour, and one could incorporate some Liu Kang esque moves to give the link of being his trainer.

Not really. This is true, but this is their chance to reinvent him to MAKE IT WORK. They really need to give him more of a Yoda vibe. Someone watching Empire Strikes Back for the first time would go "Wait, THIS is the Jedi Master?" then they actually show him as the wise old master he's supposed to be. Oh yeah, definitely. I'm not even opposed to having him being a drunk and occasionally crass as long as it's not ALL he is. Something like Jiraya from Naruto, where he's kind of a wreck but he's still a genuine threat and a respectable master. Not really. That's why I thought it worked, honestly. It's just taking the piss out of the extreme seriousness of a lot of the game, the old "wise Chinese master" stereotype, and the hand or foot-generated special powers of the other fighters. To each their own, I guess. To me he came across as a one-note bad joke. He's supposed to be one of those "he's gross but deep down he's wise and good"... except there was nothing deep down. He also served no purpose story-wise so there was no point to the character. Say what you will about Meat and Mokap (and I actually like those) but at least they have the decency to be non-canon. And frankly I don't see how the MK games have been "extremely" serious. With Bo Rai Cho, this game has a natural way to make him more appealing to players. Have one of his styles be the traditional pukey joke, another be the drunken stance and style but without the toilet humour, and one could incorporate some Liu Kang esque moves to give the link of being his trainer. That's actually a good idea. It would be a good way to do it, plus it would give players a choice of whether they want a serious or parody character.
