Yeah, now that you mention it, it does sound more like it would be on the Genesis. What makes you guys say that? I had this game on both systems and I don't really remember them sounding too different, just different rosters. I was a kid though. For starters, there's no reverb abuse...

And now there's a version of the Shield theme up as well.

And now there's a version of the Shield theme up as well. It's good, but Why is the notation different? It sounds like it's "the Shield's theme if they went to TNA tomorrow".

I can't watch either one while I'm at work, but I hope the Wyatt Family one has a 16-bit version of the DEH! part.

You know, if you speed them up a little, they would be a perfect fit in original Doom.

You know, if you speed them up a little, they would be a perfect fit in original Doom. Sped it up to 1.5 and this theory absolutely holds true. ...so what heavy metal song is this ripping off

Yeah, now that you mention it, it does sound more like it would be on the Genesis. What makes you guys say that? I had this game on both systems and I don't really remember them sounding too different, just different rosters. I was a kid though. The Genesis had a Yamaha sound chip and generated music through a couple of channels (FM channels, I think). You could mess with the channels to simulate the effects of different instrumentation, but it was still limited in terms of emulating "real" instruments. The Yamaha chip was actually similar to a lot of sound chips in arcade games of the time, so if you wanted a 16-Bit console version of Street Fighter II with music similar to the CPS1, Genesis was the way to go. I believe the SNES had some kind of Sony sound chip. With this chip, you could get instruments that sounded closer to "real" instruments. Personally speaking though, I feel like the Genesis was usually stronger with metallic, rock-influcenced music due to its FM rawness, while the SNES was superior in terms of emulating orchestral music.

I liked the 16-bit Wyatt Family theme better than 16-bit Shield theme.

I didn't realize as a kid how different the SNES and Genesis sounded. The best way I can describe it is that the SNES sounds a lot smoother, and the Genesis sounds very "crunchy."

Theme number three appears to be up now as well. Probably the weakest of the group so far.

I think I like the 16-bit version of Ziggler's theme more than his actual theme.
