As an American, it never even clicked in my head that that was what she said because I've never heard anyone pronounce it like that before.

I've heard a few Americans use it, but they say "twot" instead. I pretty much only watched the video to see how she pronounced it. She get's bonus points from me now.

I actually surprised she pronounced it correctly because every American I've heard say it has said twhat. Her mother is from England if I remember correctly. Ah, that makes sense.

Overheard on a transcontinental flight: (stewardess) "Sir, would you like a cup of our TWA coffee?" (traveler) "No, thank you, but I'd fancy some of your TWA tea!"

Hahahahahaa
My kinda thread.
I didn't even realize it until the bleeped it on Smackdown. I, too, had only heard the American pronounciation
which I think sounds better (runs)

It is news to me that Americans cannot pronounce 'twat'.

People find the silliest things offensive.

I didn't even realize twat was all that offensive. Really? I thought it was fairly well-known as being a few steps behind the c word here in the US.

Haha, I had a teacher in third grade who called students twats sometimes, so I just assumed it was on the same level as something lame like "nincompoop" because the teacher was doing this but no one raised an eyebrow. Then when 9/11 happened he cried in class, ran out the door, and I never saw him again. What a weird guy.

It's odd hearing the British pronunciation of it. But then I think that's the case for any group who typically hears one pronunciation predominantly. I prefer the American/Canadian pronunciation but then that's what I'm used to.

The t word has always been used a lot in my region. It was like a dirty sexual term for vagina. I can now remember all the boys using it in high school.

I can't believe people find the word that offensive. It's about as common as Hello here

What was really coincidental was how well timed Layla was holding a kitty litter box for her to hit Summer over the head with it.
Well timed, Layla. Well timed.

I can't believe people find the word that offensive. It's about as common as Hello here It's different for different places though. Like when I first saw DX's fake presidential speach thing I had no idea why words like "god" and "damn" were considered offensive. But it's just what different people feel. Like I could say god or damn in a supermarket without anyone batting an eyelid over here, but if I said twat I'd be getting a lot of dirty looks and it would upset a lot of people. But it doesn't really bother me because I use all of them anyway. Words like faggot or slut bother me way more, because of the connotations behind them and how they are used to marginalise and discriminate certain sections of society, than someone using twat or c***. I'm not sure why this turned into such a ramble but there you have it.

That is odd that it made it through, I was always under the impression it meant the same thing in the US as it does here in the UK

Probably a missed cue where someone was supposed to hit her before it came out.
