Crazy that the A's and Tigers made major moves this season and one of them could miss out on the wild card play-in game.

But...but.... you have to respect him. Maddon is a GENUIS! I mean, never mind that he's never won anything, he's a GENUIS! He thinks outside the box!!! Shift! GENUIS!

What Joe Maddon is oblivious to is that those fans cheering for Derek Jeter aren't Rays fans paying tribute to a retiring legend, they are transplanted Yankees fans acknowledging one of their team's all-time greats.
Yankees fans and Red Sox fans always dwarf Rays fans at Tropicana Field. That's just a fact of life. When New York or Boston aren't in town, the dome is essentially empty, as Rays fans don't exist. There's a reason why Tampa Bay averages just over 18,000 fans per home game, good for 53 percent capacity, the third-worst in baseball: because nobody cares. The Rays could have a World Series contender on their hands and the fans won't show up. In 2009, the year after Tampa Bay represented the AL in the World Series, they couldn't even muster better than 53 percent capacity for home games.
That's what you get for placing a franchise in the mecca of professional sports apathy. The entire state of Florida is a wasteland when it comes to pro sports. Nobody gives a damn, and they only show up when their team is trendy and the consensus favorite to win a championship. The Miami Heat were all the rage for the past four seasons, but now that LeBron James returned home to Cleveland, I can guarantee in 2014-15, the Heat sees its average home attendance dip back to the bottom half of the NBA, just as it was in the pre-LeBron years.

Even after seeing his girlfriend turn heel and suffering the beating of a lifetime at the hands of Brock Lesnar, this is what will truly make Cena breakdown and cry.

9th straight for the Nats This is insane, Rendon hadn't played all game, pinched hit and drove in the game winning run. The fan in me wants them to come down to earth a little bit, they've won 9 straight, about 5 of them have been in walk off fashion. This team is good, but I'm just waiting for them to slump. 2012 has me like this, I thought that was the team that was going to the World Series and St. Louis crushed the souls of DC. I want them to have momentum going into the playoffs but I also don't want them to peak and then start crashing.

The Nats are going to have walk off wins on the road at this point.
A Baltimore/Washington WS would be pretty interesting
